Bit of a conflict today Pat? Galway vs Utd lol. I suppose keep switching, or a half of each? Or just settle for one match and look at it in full?
Galway win and Utd win would be the sweet spot... |

So it's a week and a half until our footballers' date with destiny as we try to match Micko's Kerry team and do 4 in a row.
From the media coverage you would think that we were the worst thing ever to happen to the game, rather than the greatest team ever to have played it. Everyone wants us to lose, everyone wants poor Tyrone to stop our juggernaut................the same Tyrone that were slated for their " Puke Football " not so long ago. Our lads are a bunch of humble, dedicated and committed young lads who try to play the game properly and adapt their tactics to meet whatever their opponents throw at them. Can't wait for Sunday week to see our own two young lads pick up their second and fourth medals respectively. Up the Dubs.

Up the Dubs indeed, Rolo, agree with your every word there.
Am I mis-reading your post, or do you have a personal, family interest in the game, ie, two of your lads actually playing? Or maybe I picked it up wrong? |

I actually didn't Rolo - I was a little, weedy, lazy f**ker - now I'm a little, fat, lazy f**ker lol! But, let's see, who did I know might have been involved - Frankie Larkin, Mick Martin (now loads of Mick Martins for some reason - nearly as common as Gerry Dalys lol - this lad a tall guy from Clontarf I think, very sociable, cheerful type), can't think of anyone else... Ken Spratt was the guy I was thinking of from Erin's Isle. This back in the early-90s I think. Ken a sound, tall, good-lookin lad, he subbed for the Dubs a couple times, and I think got part of a game for them once ... I remember him telling me (and he was a really fit guy) what it was like training with the first team - impossible to lay a finger on any if them in training...
...my interests were more in the music (listening and playing) end of things Rolo. During the very early to late-70s I could be found any night down the Annes - the old pond of course ... |

Presume Frankie is related to Alan Larkin, he of Heffo's Army fame ?
I only got involved 16/17 years or so ago when my kids started playing. Now two of their old team mates, from U8 - up to Minor are central to the Dubs ambitions, at 25 and 20 years of age.

Yeah rolo, Frankie was a brother of Alan Larkin - sorry should have said that previous post - lived further along All Saints Road from me. That's great about the two lads playing - will you get along to see the match or general impossibility of getting tickets (I assume) mean you have to watch on telly? I am EP'd that day - just dogsbody volunteering - but I assume it will be on a big screen somewhere...
