Thanks Pat and Gerry. It was a great show to do and delighted ye enjoyed it. Thanks for supporting the show as always. it means alot to Jen and myself to see our listeners listening in and enjoying it. We are just volunteers and trying to give something back from all the joy Cecil gave us all over the years. I hope listeners can appreciate we do our best and we are not professionals or anything. Last night, I had the misfortune to have a disgruntled listener pm me to give very negative feedback. Thankfully that doesn't happen too often - I don't mind constructive feedback but this was out of order. Its why I said very little last night on air. Unfortunately the world we live in. I am not sure some folks realise the time and effort it takes to plan and deliver shows. Its a labour of love!

Only seeing your note just now Brian. My sympathies, I fully understand your position and the amount of time, trouble, and real effort and commitment it surely takes to perform your labour of love every two weeks. I am sure I speak for all the listeners in urging you not to be discouraged by one curmudgeonly set of unfair criticism. I have found, in a long working career, and a long (ish) life so far! the degree of venom shown in criticisms of this nature is almost always in inverse proportion to the amount of knowledge that the "critic" has of the subject they are addressing.
It's upsetting to get nasty and unfair criticism Brian. But its one bad and ignorant apple in the bunch of listeners. Keep on doing what you're doing so well my friend - your on-air presence, your knowledge of the music you present and your friendly and cordial presenting manner are hugely appreciated - by me and I'm sure all the regulars. Don't let one eejit get you down.

I echo everything Gerry has just said. I'm a huge admirer of your excellent presentation skills, your musical knowledge, your absolute dedication to the show and all the time and effort you put into keeping the show on the road. Be assured that the core of listeners (including myself from afar) hold you in very high regard. I said it before I feel part of a Grove community and when I do tune in to the show I feel I am amongst friends who share a common bond of loving music, enjoy great banter, share opinions and information and have a bit of craic but all in a mutually respectful manner. So do not be deterred or disheartened by the odd idiot who doesn't see it that way. Keep going and like Gerry says us regulars will always be here supporting you and indeed your co-presenters. So rock on Brian 🤘 🤘✌️✌️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎵🎵

Gerry and Pat, thank you for the very kind words and advice. It is good to hear we are on the right track and of course you are both right in saying the naysayer should not matter. We have had a few of these over the years and my response is if you dont like it then dont listen. Its that simple but some folks like a rant and to slam the door on the way out. Ah well. You cant please everyone!

Hi All. I will be covering the opening slot from 10 am to 12 noon tomorrow on bank holiday Monday on Near FM. The playlist will be taking a look at a song from each of the gigs I went to this year. Some great memories this year. Show will be live with playback after. Not a Grove Show of course but perhaps of interest if relaxing tomorow morning.

as I always say from my days of co presenting, and guesting on the Grove radio show, these shows are 'live' and not pre recorded,so we don't get to edit anything, but I personally like it that way,it's real and honest, like the hiss and crackle of an old record...give me the 'real feel' any day... as Brian said,we are not pros, and we volunteer for the love of the music, and the Grove memories... it's a great buzz being in the studio, and when the listeners say that they enjoyed the shows, that's the icing on the cake.

Right on Sean - to echo some of what Pat said above, the radio show is a meeting place for those of us who share an interest in good music and have shared memories of fantastic times in the Grove (both incarnations) orchestrated by the great dj Cecil RIP.
And a great point about the live nature of the show, Sean, that's what makes things interesting - always! And again, my thanks to Brian, Jen, yourself, and all the radio show volunteers for keeping the Grove alive and kicking !

Gerry, that's part of the buzz, nothing is rehearsed,so none of us know what direction the chats and topics will go...it's all random, which adds to the fun.

Agree Sean.
Being unrehearsed adds to the excitement of the show and it's uniqueness. G Like the Forest Gump movie. The Grove Radio Show is "like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get" And for the life of me I cannot fathom how anyone could be critical of Brian. He's absolutely brilliant in every aspect of the radio show's stewardship. |

Pat,exactly,it does add to the excitement, and a listener might post a comment which gets a conversation / debate going,so it's all quite spontaneous really... and as regards critics, you can't please everyone...
