I have no doubt the show tonight will be excellent. Different playlists hit different spots with different people, but all of them - since I started listening - have hit the spot with me at some level or other! Having guested on the show ( as others of us on here have done) I don't underestimate the effort involved in putting together the playlists. Labour of love as it undoubtedly is, the playlists don't just lep on to the page, they have to be worked at ... so here's looking forward to the show tonight, I will be here, ready and waiting ...

Fair play to one and all for putting this whole thing together (Brian, Jen, Lynne and Sean). Clap

Edit: Not forgetting Mr. Peter Gaynor either, who started the ball rolling.  Still miss his "Full Deck" show as well.Smile

Thanks brill Brian.

Not just the playlist but the history of who played each song and when.

That took some research and effort.

Well done and thank you for sharing.

Thanks Pat. This one did take more work than usual but I really wanted to highlight the contribution all the shows guests and presenters have made. We dedicated Born to be Wild for your birthday on the day too. It was really interesting to see all the choices and the mix of songs chosen over the various decades.

Appreciate that dedication.

Me and Muller picked that song because he and I as well as other friends were bikers back in the day and of course Easy Rider was an inspirational movie for any aspiring biker.

It was usual to see the group of us turning up on mass at the Mount Prospect Grove on a Saturday and Sunday night.

Great playlist S1 and I look forward to hearing the show (link seen posted on Grove Show Playback topic)

Norwegian Wood was always a favourite Beatle's tune of mine. I often wondered if they ripped Bob off or if Bob ripped them off with this little number:

" 4th Time Around" was commonly speculated to be a response to The Beatles' song "Norwegian Wood" – written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney for the 1965 album Rubber Soul – as the two tracks share a reasonably similar melody, lyrical premise, and 3/4 time signature. "4th Time Around" has been seen as either a playful homage, or a satirical warning to Lennon about co-opting Dylan's well-known songwriting devices. Lennon expressed a range of opinions on this topic in interviews between 1970 and 1980. He initially felt it to be a somewhat pointed parody of "Norwegian Wood", but later he considered Dylan's effort to be more a playful homage. Still, the last line of "4th Time Around" ("I never asked for your crutch / Now don't ask for mine.") played into Lennon's apparent paranoia about Dylan in 1966–67, when he interpreted this line as a warning not to use Dylan's songs as a "crutch" for Lennon's songwriting.[1]

Thanks Pat. We love doing the show, the grove was very good to us all and for me it feels like we are giving something back. The songs you and Derek picked were simply superb. Cecils range was breathtaking and that just the first 8 years. I've known all the later stuff comes from the earlier influence - blues, soul, motown, folk and then rock. I feel Cecil is still educating us all and continuing the lifelong gift of good music.

Yep, was a super playlist as always. As we all know, the playlists don't put themselves together by magic; it takes thought, time, and effort. So, "well done" once again Brian, to yourself, Jen and Lynne.

Great playlist last night.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thank you so much for playing Bad Moon Rising.

I didn't know Cecil back in 1972 and like a lot of people never really asked him to play anything.

But this one night I got the courage to approach the stage and asked for this song and as I said he played it.

We used to hang out at the very opposite end of the hall from the stage so getting to the stage on a packed night was a mission in itself. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

That's interesting. I'm always deleting posts after posting, assuming nobody has read them yetTongue

I forgot there are email notifications to give my game away

I will be posting a quiz on "The Incident" later, so as Maire and DaithΓ might say– "if you don't watch the movie you wont get the prize."

Pogue,

I never watched the Incident because my laptop is sh*te and it's not on Netflix.

And it's very hard to watch a movie on a mobile phone.

So am out of the game πŸ˜ͺ.

Don't know about the others but I never get emails relating to this forum.
