watching at 6:00am Washington time - One eaglet took his/her first step outside the nest (might have had a few more during the night while I was sleeping). A small step for bird, one giant leap for birdkind.

It was like The Battle Of Britain here during the week as male and female blackbird chased a magpie through the skies. The magpie eventually landed on my next door neighbour's roof and the two blackbirds landed nearby giving out loads to the magpie who eventually flew off and peace was restored.

They are close to takeoff but I think the other one is hiding on the tree somewhere. Almost 3 months now since hatching. It seemed like my little robins were in the air within a week of being out of their shells.
