Hard to call winner of France v Belgium.

Yes - we're back ! The site I mean. Couldn't get on earlier today either, tried various devices - all with the same result. Wasn't sure then had I said something to get myself unceremoniously barred or what! Went to the Facebook site then, saw posts from Pat and Frank, knew it wasn't just me then. While I was there I decided to join the site ... Had to do a little quiz thing ... Am awaiting the verdict from the adjudicators
 Anyway, none of the above about soccer! I tend to agree with you VJ, I think Croatia have the beating of England IF they have recovered properly from the few really tough matches they've had. We'll see soon enough. I am maintaining my usual position that I don't mind who wins once it's a good game ...

If Croatia play to the best they have the players to beat England. But it's a tight call. Am with RR on this. Don't care who wins so long as it's a good game. I said yesterday that I thought the winners of France v Belgium will win the tournament and haven't changed my mind. France were excellent and have a really good team.

Yep BP, France looked really good. We had people in for drinkies across the period the match was on last night, so I had one eye on that and one on our guests. But it seemed to be a really good match, and looked like France had the edge all right ; but, as I say, didn't get to concentrate fully on it. No such distractions tonight though (I hope!). I is looking forward big-time...

Croatia won fair and square there Pat, no question.
You see it so often in matches - a one goal lead is simply not enough against strong opponents; if you can't follow up with a second goal you're always going to be vulnerable, and that's what happened here. But in reality Croatia always had the better players, and they made that superiority count. I have to say, Luka Modric is a little machine, probably man of the tournament. Good match, good entertainment. |

I don't know a lot about soccer. Which team does Serena Williams play for?
I'm always afraid to check this thread during the day in case I hear results before I get to see games (usually broadcast around 8pm our time.) I just watch because I like the little skirts they wear

Personally I think this 3rd/4th spot game is a waste of time. Who ever remembers who came 3rd or 4th ? |

I pretty much agree Pat - even 2nd place lots of people won't remember.
Having said that, if both of them take the approach they want to win the game - and if they don't put out 2nd-string teams - it has potential. I'll have a look at some part of it anyway. Maybe switch on at the start of the match and see how things go... |
