Yiz are buying well alright, Pat.  And, as an added bonus, ye got shut of Falcao (reckon his legs have gone).  There's paper rumours this morning that a swap deal with PSG (Di Maria for Cavani) might also be on the cards.  Reckon United could be dangerous next year.

Agreed Mel.

Read that about Cavani.

I see the 'Pool got rid of Sterling. Better off without him. £49m is great business for the 'Pool.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Manchester United 3 Club Brugge 1.

Blessed with a late Fellaini goal. Embarrassed

Tie not over yet.

Been thinking about the madness in transfer activity in the English Premiership.

Crazy fees for players. And so many foreign players joining English clubs at greater fees than ever before. Their love of the English club? No way, it's the money.

Reminds me of the "Celtic Tiger" and we all know how that ended up.

Also I remember back in the 90's, the Italian league was on Channel 4. It was the big league at the time. Now where is it?

And when I see this, John Terry dropped by Chelsea goes out and buys a Ferrari 275 GTB worth £1.5m, it's madness.

Yep, reckon the Premiership will go bust within the next 10 years or so, if not sooner.

Fans won't pay the entrance prices and will also not accept subsiding the outrageous salaries that players are on.

I despair at the way the game is going when I rememer the greats of before.

Strange weekend for football results.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United all lose.

Man City look unstoppable.

Man United are pure muck right now. Sideward and backward passing. Too slow No threat up front. Unless things change rapidly we'll not make top 4 this season Cry

Well United fairly brought down to earth yesterday. Defensive weaknesses cruelly exposed by a supeb Arsenal performance  Cry

Interesting developments at Liverpool.

Mel,

If you get Klopp, which seems likely, then I reckon he's a guy that can really get your lot going again.

As an aside, am delighted Chelsea are doing so badly. And it's no coincidence that their poor form started after Mourinho treated their doctor, Eva Carneiro, in such a disgraceful manner. He's a bully Angry

Manchester United's amazing record re youth team development Thumbs UpApprove

People can get a little sick of stats in football some times, understandably. It gets to the stage where the numbers seem to suck all sense of spontaneous joy from the game.

With that in mind, here’s one that's a little different to the usual OPTA stuff, and one that should impress - Manchester United have had a graduate from their youth system in every single match day squad since October 30, 1937. That’s 75 years, or 3,623 consecutive games.

And, if that wasn’t impressive enough, up until 2011 there was a player from the youth system in every single starting XI for 73 years. However, on May 1, 2011 John O'Shea started the game on the bench against Arsenal.

Two historians, Tony Park and Steve Hobin, have written and researched an exhaustive history of the United youth academy – Sons of United.

From the Busby babes through the mid to late nineties years of Fergie’s fledglings and on to the current generation of Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverly there has never been a time in 75 years that the United first team hasn’t been driven by some homegrown talent. Perhaps the most impressive feat in that period is making it through the Premier League era with their run intact, as the practice of producing and fielding home-grown players becomes less and less a part of football at the top level.

That period includes 17 league titles, 3 European Cups and 10 FA Cups. Not bad.

Bosnia 1 Rep of Ireland 1.

So who's going to win the Prem?

Leicester, Spurs, Arsenal or Man City.

I hope Leicester do but I have a feeling it could be Spurs year but Man City could go on a run and win it as well. Don't think Arsenal are strong enough.
