They certainly did Pat. Couldn't enjoy the game at all as one the backfoot from the off. Still, the team came through, but the match showed all that is good and bad about arsenal under Wenger. I have mixed feelings with him signing a new contract, it really depends on how he tends to the squad in terms of players in and out. Its a house of cards though, and I feel a significant number of fans may have a tipping point if next season starts slowly.

Dreadful start to Premiership campaign by Man United.
Losing at home to Swansea 1-2 Van Gaal has his work cut out to make Man U challenge for Premiership title this season. |

Football madness
I know this guy's a good player but I doubt he's worth this kind of money. Is any player? Am a United fan but I think football players wages and transfer fees are gone through the roof. If he helps us win the Prem that'll be great and I hope he's worth the money. Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria will fly in this lunchtime to undergo a medical ahead of his British record £63.9m move to Manchester United. The transfer fee agreed between the two clubs for the Argentina international eclipses the £50m Chelsea paid Liverpool for striker Fernando Torres three years ago. Shocking defeat for Man United tonight.
MK Dons 4 Man United 0. Perhaps a blessing in disguise although it hurts. Now Van Gaal knows the task ahead. He gave the fringe players and reserves the chance to prove themselves and he'll know who to get rid of now. So many players fell short of United standards tonight. Let the clear out begin. United will be better for this result. The Press will love this and make it look a bigger disaster than it is. Like when Fergie took over, it takes time to get an overall perspective of the club and it's potential. Van Gaal, I believe, used this game to run the rule over various players. Now the real business will begin. Weed of those who no longer deserve to play for United and bring on those who do. Onwards and upwards from here. Manchester United for ever. Time is against United - the window closes next Monday. Good luck getting in a bunch of new players and jettisoning the crud. Wonder what the Utd board (or the fans) will make of it all, if things dont get better for them.

Hi Mel,
Not going to be easy. As Joey says I'm keeping a positive attitude on the whole situation at United. Time will tell whether things get better or not. I think they will but it'll take time to rebuild a team to challenge for the Prem. |

Manchester United have agreed a season-long loan deal with Monaco for striker Radamel Falcao, according to Sky sources. A plane is expected to come into Manchester airport at 4.50pm this afternoon from Nice and our sources expect Falcao to be on board as he heads for talks and a medical at Old Trafford ahead of a loan that is worth between £5-6million. The last 24 hours have seen the Colombia international linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Manchester City as well as European champions Real Madrid. Real
appeared to be favourites to sign Falcao after he tweeted "Hello
Madrid" on Saturday – only to delete it not long afterwards, but United
now look to have won the race to sign the 28-year-old. Manchester United agree loan deal for Radamel FalcaoManchester United were poised to make a sensational deadline-day swoop for Radamel Falcao after agreeing a loan deal with Monaco for the Colombia striker. It is understood Falcao is set to undergo a medical with a view to becoming the latest high-profile summer signing at Old Trafford. Falcao, who was heavily linked with Real Madrid last week, had apparently also been of interest to Arsenal and Manchester City. With Falcao, 28, valued at around £55million, a move to City might have been complicated due to Financial Fair Play restrictions. But it seems United, who were not thought to be in the market for another attacking player, have struck a deal of between £5million and £6million for a season-long loan. In other business, United were also hoping to finalise a deal for the versatile Daley Blind from Ajax. It emerged on Saturday that United had agreed a fee with the Dutch club and, with him having subsequently been pictured in Manchester, the transfer seemed likely to go through. United have already spent £131.7million this summer on four players, including British record £59.7million signing Angel di Maria. |
