What browser are you using?
The above should work nonetheless.

I've attached a file below (test.txt) which contains the code.
Open the file (it will probably open up in notepad) and select all text (press the Ctrl and A keys together), copy the text (Ctrl and C) and then in a new message box here, past it in (Ctrl and V).
Lets see what happens then.

I just took your link and edited it by following Killian's instructions re putting the [ stuff at the start of the link and the ] stuff at the end of the link.

I can't access Youtube in here in work, but it seems to have worked.

Yes it's the link but it's not in the "blue" format that automatically let's you click on the link to open it.

If I paste into the world icon above and click ok I get nothing

Pat - I'm not sure then. I just clicked into the World Icon like yourself and added your link in there (removing one http:// first though as that's already done for you when you click on the world icon), and you can see the link seems to have worked.  Hope it works out.

No need for any icon or globe mullarkey whatsoever.
