Another Irish sporting hero this evening. Thumbs Up

McIlroy runs from the field at PGA Championship


The only thing Rory McIlroy had to do to win the PGA Championship was finish.

McIlroy had a commanding lead most of the day and it was seven strokes when he approached the 18th tee.


But that wasn't enough. He hit a long birdie putt to end it all and finish with an eight-shot margin.

That broke Jack Nicklaus' mark of PGA Championship winning margin.

McIlroy never bogeyed a hole all day and the coronation started at the turn when he turned his game on and others faded.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

What a weekend of great ( alternative ) sport.
 
First of all, Phil Taylor, the world's greatest sportsman wins his Semi Final against his greatest rival Raymond Van Barnevald to qualify for the final against the best player in the world this year.
 
Fast forward to last night when he btats the young pretender, Michael Van Grewen and is crowned World Champion for an unbelievable 16th time.
 
Legend !
 
Then on Sunday night / Monday morning Washington Redskins cap a geat run of 7 straight wins to beat their great rivals from Dallas to win the NFC East and qualify for the NFL Play Offs for the first time in several years.
 
Great entertainment over the holiday season.

Taylor is unbelievable. I saw the first few sets and once VanGerwen missed to win a set against the throw early doors and Taylor finished with a 170 I thought "only one winner here"
 
Left the Cedars early as I am back at work today but it was a pleasant few hours up there all the same - saw the Arsenal at their worst but at least the first hour of darts was a joy....
I'm searching for that cash I should have saved for the crash

I watched the darts for the first time. Not really my thing but I have to say it was magic and the atmosphere in the Alexander Palace was unbelieveable.

Agree Rolo, Taylor is some player.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Understand why people wouldn't be darts fans Pat, but the speed of the game, the fact that each visit to the board in a big game like last night's is crucial, makes for a fantastic spectator sport.
