Ah Feck off the lot of ya...

Us old timers were there when we had The Beatles, Animals, Rolling Stones, The Troggs etc. to pick from.

We did eventually get new stuff like Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond...LOL

Jeez, some of these songs mentioned I still never heard of. By the time Led Zep came up w Whole lotta love I was already getting too old for the Grove. Seems later on you all went until ye's were older.

So we were listening to Purple Haze and Mony Mony..

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm afraid I'm not a veteran of the site but have posted a couple of posts. My Grove years were 88-90.  I remember making a Grove tape back then of all the songs that I loved and would hear every Saturday night.  It got lost over the years but moving house this year I found the tape again.  It really took me back to some of the best times growing up.  I've actually kept the very first outfit that I wore to the Grove for nostalgia purposes only!!!  A black top, long purple tassel skirt and my black biker jacket.  Oh to be 17 again!!!!!!!

Tara/Brendanfella,

The CDs that Peter compiled are great but, in fairness, they only contain a compilation of 'some' great Grove songs from the different decades of the Grove.  I reckon it would be a practically impossible* task to collate all of the Grove songs played over the years (unless your name is Cecil! ).

* I say impossible, because I collected the 7" singles/songs of the Grove from just 1980-1986, based on my memories and other Grovers memories and I reckon that the collection, though extensive, is not definitive...

Edit: Welcome to the site Tara, please stick around and give us your Grove memories!

They are brill, no question!  Have 'em in my drawer in work and stick a CD on the computer when I need to just get a 'fix' of some Grove music...

what about your favourite Uriah Heep number?

By the way, what was the name of that UH album I bought for you in the Uk in 82/83 ?

The only Uriah Heep I ever bought was "The Best of" in 1976 (US)

But it had enough hits on it for me...Easy Livin, The Wizard, Sweet Lorraine, Gypsy.....Still love those songs but never bought another album????...still have the vinyl somewhere (with all the other Vinyl....LOL)

July Morning is from 1971.
