That great stuff.  Can't beat the comments from the Dub crowds.

Yeh

Heared a great one from Friday nights match.

When the umpire was hit by the ball and knocked to the ground some wit shouted :

"He dived ref, he dived "

THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE
BUT IT'LL PISS YOU OFF FIRST

Ridiculous behaviour altogether.

I always thought it was the umpires' job to follow the flight of the ball to determine whether or not it was a score or was wide.

Begs the question as to what that particular umpire was up to.

Enjoyed the calls from the kids........" He fell over, he fell over ........."

It really is an amazing situation

One man to keep track of 30 individuals running around at pace and check that they are not breaking any of the rules

Two men to monitor whether a ball crosses a line

Four men to montor whether a ball has crossed a line and if so whether it has gone between two sticks or not

No wonder the discipline is a little hit and miss (and I know that linesmen and umpires can interven to help the ref, but they seem top operate on the three monkeys philosophy)

I'm searching for that cash I should have saved for the crash

Can't Finno.

For my sins I've pitched my lot in with the North Dublin Under 12 Development Squad and there's a training session arranged for Sunday at One O' Clock.

Actually looking forward to this, a chance to see some of the stars of the future.

Rolo.....you'd be very proud of our daughter. It was her birthday on Wednesday and she got a lot of money. We went shopping today and the first thing she wanted to buy was a real Dubs jersey.........not the crappy ones from Penny's she had until today. So gone are the brats dolls and in are the Dubs
You are what you wanna be....age doesn't matter

Rolo you are right - it is the umpires job to follow off the ball incidents however, the final say is with the referee.   Hubby refereed a match between Clare and Tipp and a very dodgy point where one umpire signaled wide while the other gave the point !  He disallowed the point and Tipp one by a point - there was war - he had to be escorted off the field.   Who would want to be a referee !!!  There is now umpire training where they have to do an exam as do referees ( including fitness test - no harm ) as do linesmen and 4th officials.

Nice one Bluebell, delighted to hear that.

I really have sympathy for most referees maryi. They are on a hiding to nothing most of the time, always antagonising one side or the other.

well done Bluebells daughter  ,i do think the Jerseys are a little bit expensive but i hope she gets to wear it till september comes .

As for referees ,why do they do it ??,done a bit of refereeing myself for a while and i have to say some of the abuse you recieve is way O.T.T,and that was doing juvenile, you cannot please everybody and most of the time one team is piss-d at you ,needless to say packed it in after a game in Cabra where as i was attack by a  person  on the sideline,

Anyroad huge weekend for my club (Vincents) this weekend, All Ireland club simi final against Crossmaglen ,its a big ask from our boys but i am sure the will give them a game  ,well here,s hoping ,anybody heading down to Navan to see it

Ps

maybe we will see the Rebels in the League after all

Yeah Joey, will be making the trip to Navan on Sunday.

My older fella is a huge Mossy fan and wants to travel so there's my excuse.

Will be a tough one for your lot. Think the forwards will have to make use of whatever meagre possession comes their way and Mossy will have to be faultless from frees. These games are usually low scoring so every chance is vital.

Joey,

The best of luck to Vincent's hope they do the honours.   When my daughter was 4 my husband was reffing in Dingle and we went for the day out - she came running over to me at half time and asked whats a bollocks mammy ?   Some old fella was called her dad a bollocks from the sideline - I told her it was a name for a baby pig !!!!!!  and the man kept pigs.   She got all excited and thought the man was going to give her dad a pig after the match !!

Yeah Joey, best of luck to your lot, millions of Blue and White flags on the lamp posts on the Malahide Road and on Griffith Ave. Looks deadly.

Just think that Cross might have the edge although I'd love to see someone get stuck into wee Oisín.

Maybe Timmy or Pat Kelly could give him an early belt, keep him quiet .
