Hi Verh, if, like me, you like Wilburt Smith you will love John Gordon Davis who was an assizes judge in Rhodesia. Peter Watts is the Australian equivalent who wrote a trilogy set in Queensland during the gold rush in the 19th century. Riveting stuff

Just finished "Dark Star Safari" by Paul Theroux. An absolute must of a read. He travels from Cairo to Cape Town using local transportation in the main and paints a very dark but realistic picture of current Africa. |

Reading "Toxin" by Robin Cook, not the politician. Jaysus reading this makes me wonder about eating burgers or any ground meat. I know it's based in the USA but............ |

I hope you're using your beautiful wife Lerato's "Rose Coloured Thistle" as your bookmark. In fact I think you should pass some of them around to fellow Grovers as her book is a great read. Edited by Biker Pat |

@Pat 711 pages with small lettering
@Joan Yes Joan still reading it but I did read Harry Potter in between that. Also got book one of Dragonlance "War of the Souls" Trilogy Dragons of a Fallen Sun @Jen No it nothing to do with Lord of the Rings but it is a good book. If you are into fantasy books Jen check out the Dragonlance books Dragonlance Chronicles Dragonlance Legends They are one of my favourite series of books P |

I'm currently reading 'Grumpy Old Women'...funny as hell! Peter - I read a fair few Marion Zimmer Bradley novels when I was younger and I still read The Hobbit and LOTR from time to time. (The Silmarillion did my head in!) But I'm not big into fantasy these days. I'll keep them in mind though if I do turn back to that genre. Thanks! PS. Just remembered to renew my libary books too...ta! Jen |

It's a bit like wading through custard isn't it? (The Silmarillion) I recently bought The Children of Hurin, which was pieced together from Tolkien's manuscripts. Reads a bit more like LOTR but not very lighthearted. Jen |
