Set in Afghanistan, it tells the story of two women and what life was/is life as a woman in that country. Super book.

Inccluded are pieces on Brian Wilson, Rolling Stones, Guns'n Roses, The New York Dolls, Sid Vicious, Roy Orbison, Elvis Costello, The Smiths, Neil Young, Lou reed, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Pogues, Syd Barrett, Iggy Pop, Kurt Cobain and Miles Davis.

Reading "Redemption Falls" - Joseph O'Connor.

Superb book on life in the Wild West just after the American Civil War and involving the immigrant Irish and their stories. Some very grim accounts of life during that time.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

About Iranian fanatics efforts develop a nuclear bomb to destroy Israel. Chilling but very real.

"Hanns and Rudolf" - Thomas Harding

True story of Hanns Alexander who was the son of a prosperous German family and who fled Berlin for London in the 1930's.

Rudolf Hoss was a farmer and soldier who became Kommandant of the Auschwitz concerntration camp and oversaw the deaths of over a million men, women and children.

Compelling reading.
