"Stalingrad" - Antony Beevor.

Compelling book about the battle for Stalingrad during the 2nd World War.

Hitler's obsession to capture Stalingrad to to millions of casualties on both the German and Russian side. This book is very descriptive of what is was like during the battle ofr the city and the true horrors of that battle are exposed.

"The Last Town On Earth" - Thomas Mullen

Set against the dual backdrop of World Was 1 and the devastating 1918 influenza epidemic this is a compelling tale of morality and patriotism in a time of upheaveal. How a town disintegrates after it cuts itself off to avoid the dreaded 'flu entering it's borders but to no avail.

"Faithful Place" - Tana French

Crime thriller set in Dublin.

Whilst reading page 389 it mentions the Grove. Two lads from the Liberties go "up to the disco at the Grove, over on the northside, in search of a fresh pool of lovely ladies to fish in; getting thrown out by midnight, as memorably as possible, for being loud and obnoxious and for sneaking in our own cans"
