Welcome Jeanmc, Suggest you try "Where did you all come from?" thread and enterthe names of those you're looking for? It's further down the "Off Topic" forum. I was '72-'75 and I don't know any of the names you've mentioned. Just mentioned above so this thread has now moved up for you to see. Pat Edited by Biker Pat |

Cecil is so dumb that he tried to minimize a 12 variable function to a minimal
sum of products expression using a Karnaugh map instead of the Quine- McCluskey algorithm. |

I can sympathize with how Cecil feels about his box of records being
replaced by an iPod. When I started in graphic arts back in the ice age type was set by hand one letter at a time and everything was keylined and pasted on a drawing board, logos and illustrations had to be drawn by hand and photographed. Now the kids just bang the junk out on a keyboard and everything looks fabulous. All rules relating to kerning, font size and spacing are out the window. ...eh, where was I Oh yeh...just like Cecil's box of records |

The true meaning of Cut and Paste and Upper Case and lower case!
Found some old Letraset 'transfer' sheets last month and the kids loved them. I remember in primary school, 'printouts' were typed onto a stencil sheet - the typewriter cut the shape of the letters on the stencil, it was loaded on to a duplicating machine and a very messy ink was squeezed through on to the paper (oh yeah - this is the Cecil thread - need a vinyl link) I used send away for my vinyl (to a Mr Branson) and the list of records were printed that way. I vividly remember 'against the grain' being listed as 'against the groin' :) |

Right- Mimeograph. Another thing long gone is the dictaphone. I don't mind
that the kids never heard of one but it spoils my-" Does your girlfriend us a dictaphone?"-"yes"-"well, why can't she just use her fingers like everyone else?"- joke. OK--stop messing up Cecil's thread As kids we used to heat and bend old 78s into ashtrays and flower vases, and so did Cecil. |
