I've been browsing around Apple iTunes and I've
found the iMix feature where various users have
submitted their named playlists to be an
interesting time consuming pastime.

I've never made a single purchase off iTunes
but its an interesting place to see what folks
are listening to. Lots of old classic rock
stuff up there too.

eg... this biker mix ....
(need iTunes and sufficient firewall permissions
to see the MusicStore to launch it).

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewIMix?i d=149750024

The iMixes are all searchable. About a year ago
it was full of pedestrian boring stuff but now
there seems to be a much richer collection of
mixes.

You only get to hear a 30 sec preview of the tracks
but its still fun IMO.

Great link Teresa ...

I remember my mother telling me that she always
associates the single
"Michelle" (a Beatles tune composed by Lennon
and covered by the Overlanders who brought
it to number 1 for 5 weeks in late Jan 1966.
She would have been 5 months pregnant at the time.
I was born on May 12 1966 which incidentally
was their first wedding anniversary.

When I was small I told some visiting nun that
I was born on the same day my Mammy and Daddy
were married. The nun looked a bit perplexed

Manfred Mann Pretty Flamingo was No 1 on day I was born.
Beatles - Ticket to Ride was No 1 on the week of my parents wedding in 1965.
Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots were made for walking"
was Number 1 on the day my wife was born which
incidentally was the day Nelsons Pillar was launched
from its launching pad. She has an alibi - She was
busy getting weighed in a maternity ward in Tuam.

You might have seen this site before but.. for
those who haven't I can recommend a trip over
to AmIRight.Com web site. A humongous archive
full of misheard lyrics which can be entertaining
and in some cases hilarious.

Here is a link for the "Kansas" entry , for example...

Amusing site names

Everyone knows that if you are going to operate a business in today's world you need a domain name. It is advisable to look at the domain name selected as other see it and not just as you think it looks. Failure to do this may result in situations such as the following (legitimate) companies who deal in everyday humdrum products and services but clearly didn't give their domain names enough consideration:

1. A site called 'Who Represents' where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name… wait for it… is
www.whorepresents.com

2. Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at

www.expertsexchange.com

3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at
www.penisland.net

4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at
www.therapistfinder.com

5. Then of course, there's the Italian Power Generator company…
www.powergenitalia.com

6. And now, we have the Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales:
www.molestationnursery.com

7. If you're looking for computer software, there's always
www.ipanywhere.com

8. Welcome to the First Cumming Methodist Church. Their website is

www.cummingfirst.com

9 . Want to holiday in Lake Tahoe? Try their brochure website at
www.gotahoe.com

Music site which I use a lot while online. Not sure if anyone has posted it before. It's really good..like a personal online radio station that you can configure..AND it plays at CD quality if you have broadband..

I've used other similar ones like Musicmatch and suchlike..but this seems to be the best by a mile...

and best of all..is totally for free....for now anyway
