BMW introduces new system.
The UK police have determined that slow driving is as dangerous as fast driving and will soon be bringing in speed camera to make sure you are doing the optimum speeds.

BMW have been working on this and have developed a special paint (Zoom Impression Pixels) that will make the car slightly blurr on a camera to make it seem to be going faster.

(and i just realised we dont have a motoring section on the site at all)

Lads I was a little unsure about this at first but it's really good.  It's a free talk to your friends service and you can do it from anywhere in the world as long as your friend signs up also.  I was just speaking to my sis in law and it was so clear.  Well worth a try but you will need a mic on your computer and headphones although I was able to hear through my speakers.

Have a look and get onto your TDs when they come knocking looking for your votes for the General Election that everyone denies is going to happen before the end of the year.

Well T and Russell you won't be able to lobby politicians but you may still be interested.  The most radioactive sea in the world I didn't realise that.

Rolo - delighted you won the prize.  Its a pity that its that particular golf course - you know its been the centre of some nasty protests with the locals?

I'm afraid that on principle I won't be able to go with you - they've shut off access to what should be an amenity for all, I hate golf and you haven't asked me!smiley2

You can tie your high horse to the chain link fence outside and leave him to enjoy the bit of the view that's left for the plebs!

Ah only messing - enjoy it, the views will be amazing if you get good weather - you might even see some cetaceans.

Anyway, as for the horse, fecker's so well trained he'll jump the fence and do a runner.smiley2

Cetaceans are whales and dolphins - used to be a great spot to see them from apparently.  I've never seen any in Irish waters unfortunately, maybe this year I'll get lucky.

Of course your horse would be well trained at jumping fences, given his owner.

X on one of my previous visits home we went to Achill Island for Paddy's day as my Sis has a place there.  Anyhow we all had the top row of little appartments and each balcony led to the next.  So Paddy's morning we are all sitting out there and low and behold we spot a whale.  We sat there for about an hour just watching him play and splash only to find it was a rock!!!!!... Well if you only heard the oooohhh's and ahhhhhh's about the lovely whale....

Must of been all those pints the night before!!!!!!

Nothing to do with me - I was sitting in with my then little nine month old....

I've been browsing around Apple iTunes and I've
found the iMix feature where various users have
submitted their named playlists to be an
interesting time consuming pastime.

I've never made a single purchase off iTunes
but its an interesting place to see what folks
are listening to. Lots of old classic rock
stuff up there too.

eg... this biker mix ....
(need iTunes and sufficient firewall permissions
to see the MusicStore to launch it).

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewIMix?i d=149750024

The iMixes are all searchable. About a year ago
it was full of pedestrian boring stuff but now
there seems to be a much richer collection of
mixes.

You only get to hear a 30 sec preview of the tracks
but its still fun IMO.

Great link Teresa ...

I remember my mother telling me that she always
associates the single
"Michelle" (a Beatles tune composed by Lennon
and covered by the Overlanders who brought
it to number 1 for 5 weeks in late Jan 1966.
She would have been 5 months pregnant at the time.
I was born on May 12 1966 which incidentally
was their first wedding anniversary.

When I was small I told some visiting nun that
I was born on the same day my Mammy and Daddy
were married. The nun looked a bit perplexed

Manfred Mann Pretty Flamingo was No 1 on day I was born.
Beatles - Ticket to Ride was No 1 on the week of my parents wedding in 1965.
Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots were made for walking"
was Number 1 on the day my wife was born which
incidentally was the day Nelsons Pillar was launched
from its launching pad. She has an alibi - She was
busy getting weighed in a maternity ward in Tuam.

You might have seen this site before but.. for
those who haven't I can recommend a trip over
to AmIRight.Com web site. A humongous archive
full of misheard lyrics which can be entertaining
and in some cases hilarious.

Here is a link for the "Kansas" entry , for example...

Amusing site names

Everyone knows that if you are going to operate a business in today's world you need a domain name. It is advisable to look at the domain name selected as other see it and not just as you think it looks. Failure to do this may result in situations such as the following (legitimate) companies who deal in everyday humdrum products and services but clearly didn't give their domain names enough consideration:

1. A site called 'Who Represents' where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name… wait for it… is
http://www.whorepresents.com/ - www.whorepresents.com

2. Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at

http://www.expertsexchange.com/ - www.expertsexchange.com

3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at
http://www.penisland.net/ - www.penisland.net

4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at
http://www.therapistfinder.com/ - www.therapistfinder.com

5. Then of course, there's the Italian Power Generator company…
http://www.powergenitalia.com/ - www.powergenitalia.com

6. And now, we have the Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales:
http://www.molestationnursery.com/ - www.molestationnursery.com

7. If you're looking for computer software, there's always
http://www.ipanywhere.com/ - www.ipanywhere.com

8. Welcome to the First Cumming Methodist Church. Their website is

http://www.cummingfirst.com/ - www.cummingfirst.com

9 . Want to holiday in Lake Tahoe? Try their brochure website at

Music site which I use a lot while online. Not sure if anyone has posted it before. It's really good..like a personal online radio station that you can configure..AND it plays at CD quality if you have broadband..

I've used other similar ones like Musicmatch and suchlike..but this seems to be the best by a mile...

and best of all..is totally for free....for now anyway

Yeah Hayseed - fair play. I'm listening to it now but it's tricky when setting up stations - I'm having to say I don't like certain songs (that I do like) by a favourite artist cos the suggestions it comes up with are like that song rather than the artist - sorry if this is hangover talk :} Anyway I'm having great fun with it - thanks

I stumbled upon the website of Ross Halfin
(veteran rock photographer from UK).
His site has a gallery link with a great
portfolio of shots he's taken through the
years of various bands and personalities

He has a diary/blog of sorts as well.
Interesting for anyone who shares interest
in music & photography.

Ok this is me being serious for once.

Not going to go into a big spill here. But basically this site is to do with Talispe Equinovarus more commonly know as Clubfoot. The site was set up my ex girlfriend. She has lovely little boy who is 2 and a half years old called Jamie. When Jamie was born he was born with a Club foot and has gone through various operations and treatment to help right his foot. His Mam Rhona set up the site for new and old parents with children of similar problems to get in contact and to give each other support and advice and to talk about there experiences.

I posted it here cause there maybe someone out there on the site who is going through this and doesn't know anyone to talk about it to. She has a website with her Storyin it and Rhona and Jamie are featured in Womans Magazine this week 3rd October 2006

De Burgh 'able to perform miracles'
09/10/2006 - 13:15:37

Singer/songwriter Chris De Burgh claims he is able to heal sick people by touching them with his hands.

The Lady in Red star stunned TV presenter Glloria Hunniford when he revealed his amazing ability on British show Heaven and Earth yesterday.

"I have found myself able to cure people with my hands," he said. "I met someone in the West Indies who was not able to walk. I put my hands on him and he was able to get up... I try to play it down."

They are gonna be back on the airwaves (the radio ones that is) very shortly..they were granted a licence ages ago but it has been the subject of an injunction..disgracefully so..
The best..well..only alternative music station in the country...

Well I know Geldof was involved in the other station...so maybe the edge is too..don't think any "celebs" are involved in Phantom...just lovers of music like ourselves...

Was basically a case of the big money guys not getting their own way...those guys in Phantom have been working their asses off bringing decent music to the Irish airwaves for the last number of years when it was...and still is..virtually impossible to find any station here that doesn't just play the usual chart based music...especially during the day....can't wait to get them back on my car radio again...

They use to do a great show on Sunday afternoon. They would go through all the old Radio stations and relive some of the history and. They covered the likes of ARD, Radio Dublin, Sunshine 101, Nova, Q102 tthe 80s one, KissFM... Those were the days

A friend of a friend use to do delieveries and had to bring stuff over to RTE and the security guard won't let him in to RTE cause he had a Sunshine 101 windvisor. told him he let him in if he takes it down. He didn't it down and turn around to the Depot. RTE rang the depot looking for the equipment and why wasn't it delievered and they told them the story. Even my froends friend wouldn't take the sticker down.
Anyway cut a long story short person who wanted the stuff delievered got on to RTE security and told him to let them through and he still said no until his neck was put on the line for the stuff not been delievered... Bloody security men

Yep...I've heard that show a few times...was interesting okay..

Have to say.. I hate stations like 2FM and Q102 and 98FM with their Flatpack DJ's ..they all sound the same and play the same music...tho RTE 1 to their credit do provide some interesting and different shows...

The Edge was involved in the application/submission
of "Storm FM" for the Dublin youth market approx
6 yrs ago. The backers for that included John
Reynolds (POD,etc) and Louis Walsh.
I think they lost out to SpinFM.

According to the latest press releases about
Phantom's return to the airwaves

"Phantom is backed by U2 manager Paul McGuinness's Principle Management and promoter Denis Desmond's Gaiety Investments, among others."

big commercial backers but hopefully boyband free zone

Well I think if they try and change the basic philosophy of the station then it wont be long going down the tube Ian...

I think the guys that run it on a day to day basis would be strong enough to resist any drastic changes anyway....

The day they start playing Westlife that's the day I turn it off....
