I really enjoyed that playlist Gerry.

Wonderful selection of songs reflecting a wide musical knowledge and taste.

May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Thank you very much Pat, you're very kind. Yourself and meself, and some of the other Grove "elders" have been around for decades now, so I suppose that gives us a broader and deeper range of music to choose from ... I did try to add in some lesser-known tracks to the mix, just for a bit of variety...

Agree Gerry re our being around a while alright.

There was so much music around in those heady 60's and 70's years.

You couldn't keep up with it all or afford all the records you wanted to buy.

So I find when I do a playlist so many songs spin around in my head as one song reminds me of another and so on.

I end up with more than one playlist which I hold on to until the show needs them.

All in all it's a wonderful experience and I get, even at my age, really excited when a playlist of mine is featured hoping at the same time the listeners will like what I've chosen.

I remember in one of my chats with Cecil he told me that he liked every record he played when I had asked him did he play records he didn't like.

I guess I kinda adopt the same policy. Every song I chose on my playlist are ones I really like.

Jaysus, I babbled on a bit. 😂😂😂

No.babbling at all there Pat, but a really interesting post.

Like you I couldn't afford to buy much stuff in my teens (before I started working, even then not so much for a couple years) so depended on radio Luxembourg, radio Geronimo !, BBC radio...

I am the same with pulling together playlists, lots of stuff, trying to decide what's Grove-suitable/played in the Grove/band that was played in the Grove, maybe a different track that hadn't been played there etc. And the odd track from the 60s/70s that maybe was never played in the Grove, but that I think people might enjoy (couple of them in my playlist on Friday!).  I always end up with enough material for another playlist from what I left out of the current one ... and so it goes...

I have never played a song that I don't like; one of the pleasures of doing out playlists is I get great enjoyment from listening to them myself! Interesting that Cecil said the same, something I often wondered about him.

There's also a fair bit of stuff I listen to that wouldn't really suit the radio show  - too heavy, too niche, etc. And we have to respect that too. At the end of the day, and within the Grove parameters, the songs on the playlist have to entertain the listeners, and that's what it's all about...

And you thought you were babbling, Pat!!! LOLLOLLOL
