Hi Guys,

As you all know by now, the Grove themed fundraiser featuring both Cecil and myself, in aid of St. Francis Hospice, Raheny, has been confirmed and tickets are now on sale at this link:

https://www.tickets.ie/events.aspx/search?s=the%20grove - Tickets For The Grove Themed Fundraiser

It will be held at Clontarf Castle on Friday, May 20th at 8pm. Tickets €20, doors at 8pm. It's gonna be a great night and it's a worthy cause!

Our advice is to book tickets as soon as possible as being a Clontarf event, tickets will sell quite quickly and when it's sold out, there's nothing we can do.

Also, this event will NOT be webcast. Apologies to our foreign friends! But we will be thinking of you, drinking for you and I'm sure texting/emailing, on the night!

Thanks again for all your support and for keeping the flame alive!

Hugs and kisses,

Andy.

Don't think so Peadar, which is why I had asked anyone who was buying their own to nab me one if possible & I'd sort them out on the night, but alas no takers so far!

I proposed to my wife in Clontarf Castle. I refuse to go back....Can we hold
the reunion somewhere else?..but not near the Cricket Club, or the Sheds,
St Annes, the Beachcomber, Coles or pubs bearing the
Madigan's or Mulligan's names, or anywhere within 3 miles of the Bull Wall.

According to my boss, who was a frequent customer in there, City Discs closed its doors a few weeks back.  I haven't been up there to check but he's pretty adamant that it's no more.

I heard that too Mel! was going to go up yesterday..

this is from Phantom.ie:

City discs in Dublin is to close.

Written by News | 24 January 2011

Management at the shop today confirmed to Phantom News that they're making the move because of market conditions.

The Templebar shop will close it's doors at an unspecified date within the next month, but it'll be preceeded by a sale of stock - keep tuned for details of that.

OK, I don't know where the creditcardless can buy tickets from then. Like I said, it's not an official reunion, so the usual rules don't apply, I'm just helping out. I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads-up guys!

Fast AND sexy!

All City Records in Temple Bar
Spindizzy Records in George’s Street Arcade

are both outlets for www.tickets.ie. You should be able to pay cash there, euro most likely, I doubt they take dollars Pete! ;)

I echo sentiments above.

To combine a worthy cause with legendary DJ's, Cecil and Andy, and then mix in a bunch of us Grovers is a sure recipe for success. I hope the event is sold out and loads money collected.

And rest assured we'll give it socks on the night

Hi everyone,
Thanks a million for all the messages of support.By the way
my cousin Barry Hanratty is the other organiser of this
Grove reunion and had the original idea. He's a bit pissed
off that I didn't mention him last night. He is a grover
since 1977.We genuinely cant wait for this and I have to
say the take up on tickets is unbelieveable even at this
early stage.A big thank you to Andy and Cecil for all their
help and to all you out there who are goin to make this
possible.

Thanks to Veronah for talking Lerato into attending. She has only attended one reunion "the music was very loud and everyone was singing along". "and..?" What's wrong with that, I'd like to know, so here we go again.

My brother is organising a gang of his friends to go. This will be his first reunion so I hope the tickets aren't sold out yet.

My sis-in-law is organising her school reunion and needed a Grove playlist. What have we started? Long may it continue.

guys,

word seems to be really getting around - was at a rugby presidents ball in Malahide last saturday and mentioned it to a few people - they were going to go on line the next day to get their tickets and similar to previous story - never went to a reuion before but went to the grove (apparently year behind me in school ) so roll on 20th - - i'm sure it will be a 'full house'

cheers

Jackie

Was just talking to Cecil.

Man, he is ready to ROCK the CASTLE

It's nostalgic for him bringing the Grove abck to it's original roots in Clontarf, not far from Mount Prospect.

His playlist is gonna be special. Trust me.

If you ain't got tickets and you call yourself a Grover/Rocker, then move your asses and get a ticket. . Even if you're not a former Grover, come along and be inaugurated into the Grove Hall of Fame.

A show not to be missed and a worthwhile charity will be benefiting as well.

Biker Pat

I reckon there'll be more than a few of us at this one Joey....can't bleedin' wait!!

Edit: Actually, what are people's plans before the event itself?  Are ye heading to the Castle Hotel bar first before it kicks off (I note that the event starts at 8pm).

Beachcomber sounds like a deadly idea. A couple of scoops
and then a stroll down Castle Avenue - what time are ye
lads heading down there?

I'm staying in Artane on the night (in my folks place on
Brookwood Avenue) so it's a Dart home to Harmo, grab a bite
to eat, and then a leisurely stroll down, through
Killester, to the Beachcomber and then on the Grove. Like
ya say Peter, just like the old days. I'm giddy already!
