Mozz just gave me an idea with his quotes under his posts...
What about our own "Lyrics Board" online, someone quotes a line from
an old Grove song and see who/how many can guess the title/singer/or next line or even a question...like "who walks like a woman and talks like a man?" think it might be a bit of fun!

Neither - Annie Lennox - why - just think she has a great voice - always have. I studied vocal training in the college of music for a couple of years so my music choice varies quite a lot.
I was not sure what yours was so had a look on the web and it brought up Tears for Fears - Curt Smith - had a listen - sounds good. I used to love Tears for Fears back in the Cricket Club days. Although I love the Grove sounds - I think there was lots of good music throughout the 80s. Good choice if thats right, and now maybe I'll have to go out and pick up some of his music. Sorry cheated there.

I know Orla & hubby Fergal well and almost always see her with the gang when I am home. Do you see them in Harry's at all?
Gosh it is a small world.
There are days I long for a walk in St. Anne’s - your making me homesick now.
I got you way wrong on the last song! Lizzy, ah well. Actually when I was home last year I went out to visit my parent’s grave and just beside theirs is Phil Lynott, what a waste. Great band also.

Orla and Fergal live two doors from us.My aforementioned nine year old, let's call him Eoin, and theirs,Fiachra, are mates.
We've shared many a lemonade or two over the ten or so years we've known them. There was one incident with a bottle of Jack Daniels after Orla's thirtieth that Fergal remembers well.
Orla's a barrel of laughs. We spent last New Years Eve in their house , kids and all , 'til about five thirty, totally unplanned.
You must know Carol McGrane then ?
Farouk Bulsara or something, isn't it ?, I've run out of lyrics as well, at least until tomorrow.

You could not have better neighbors! Orla is a blast, full of life. Fergal is mad. Anyhow your correct on the lyrics - someone else has to jump in and give us both something to think about!

Lenny your only trottin after us!
Rolo: I really thought that song was Van Morrison (still think he sings it) - but now since I have seen your favorite songs - realize it is Luke Kelly - Raglan Road. I like a bit of the old trad. myself. Now one of my very favorites:
"They know the call of freedom in their breasts”
back to worrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkk...................

No idea you were a trad.fan. I love Luke Kelly and have been known ( whispers quietly ) to rattle off a few bars after a beer or twelve.
Never tried " living on your Western Shore...... " 'cos there's so many verses,I'm bound to forget the words half way through.
We've started a whole new thread here, you know.

You have me cheating here! I don't believe I've ever heard the name Lifeboat Mona! Probably one of those songs you know well to hear but just never looked into the name.
You did see that I did vocal training; I did it at the college of music - night classes. Stayed with it for 2 years but I was going twice a week and then some Saturday's from Raheny to Ballyfermot so it just was trying to say the least. Loved it though!
Being the youngest of 8 and the daughter of a Mayo women and a Kilkenny man I was raised with Trad. Music. There were not too many nights in the Dolphin when you wouldn't end up at a session! Hence the many nights of singing trad. Music. Love it! A mad family of singers!
Ok - interested to know if you or anyone else has ever heard "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" - I heard it here and seen the documentary on it. It's an absolute fantastic song - done by Gordon Lightfoot.

It's the one that starts
" Remember December '59 ,the howling wind and the driving rain ... "
It's about the loss of a lifeboat and eight volunteer crew which sank in a storm off the Scottish Coast.
Written by Peggy Seeger, of "Springhill Mining Disaster " ,( now there's a song) fame.
See you've sussed out how to edit posts.
Travelling as in " Work Related " ? Hate that.

"The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they called 'Gitche Gumee' The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty. That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early."
Actually it was a freighter on lake superior - horrible story but brilliant song. Have a look on the internet if you have a minute.
Yes work related travel! yuck, but only to Cincy this time - normally it's Chicago but getting less frequent lately - yeah. Going now to get my estimate on my car! finally... see ya

Teresa ,it's an old country song called Plastic Jesus, quite amusing and available on net also. It's the party piece of a mate.
Think yours is The Who " Who are You ?" ,great song but my favourite is " Won't get fooled again"
Didn't notice your five ( or ten ) fav. songs yet. Obviously too busy.
Kay, saw the bit ' bout your football run tonight, your fella's not with Raheny GAA under eights by any chance ?

Hi eejit91,
I LOVE the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, heard it on late night radio ( not Luxembourg or Caroline as in the days of yore!).Remember Dave Fanning on "The Rock Show"?
I have the words and music of "Song for Ireland" around here somewhere if you want them...Rolo I also remember "Plastic Jesus"...I think its sort of been added to over the years, I particulary like..."Now Mary she don't slip or slide because her ass is magnetized .....
Teresa, a friend of mine does her own version of "her eyes they shone like diamonds...etc... at parties
The chorus goes: (for next American/Irish party)
"Oh her eyes they shone like black puddins'
you think she was queen of the land,
with a sack of spuds tied up in her apron..
and half a pigs a*se in each hand.
(I couldn't even begin to tell you her version of "Where do you go to my lovely"!!!!)
Maybe it won't do anything for inter-cultural relations,on second thoughts

Yeah of course,
Wasn't it Thelma and himself at one stage, or maybe still is for all I know, haven't seen him for years.Do remember meeting them on a flight to New York a few years ago.
I can actually remember all of those names,Annette Kealy runs marathons,Paul Morrisey's wife and mine were in the Rotunda at the same time,June,93,David Hughes' sister, think it was Corinne, was in Scoil Eanna with me,Gerry Bracken's brother Colm, was a barman in Gaffney's in Fairview for a few years.
Didn't Shay Dalton knock around with Lorcan and the poor lad that died,( can't remember his name )Fiona was great mates with all of them.
Anyway, thanks for that,it was doing my head in,actually. If you're at the next Reunion make sure to say hello.

Glad all that is taken care of! Its gas speaking to people out here, with login names like eejit and such you never know who you are speaking to but that is the fun part!
I am so glad you know my song Stevie - I love the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - such a great piece - Rolo you have to get it. When I was home a few years back I spent some time in Achill at a family reunion, drinking of course at some wild sessions: the lyrics were changed and gas. "Fields of Athenry" was one such song. I am always dragged up to sing and not as confident as I once was. Need a barrel and a few to get me going.
Rolo I see you got my Who song! Great band, listening to them today actually when my four year old said "Mam put Dreamer on"...
Anyhow it's late and I am going to finish up. Need to take care of my 10 songs but like you say Rolo very busy with year end. See I do work, by the time I get to my desk your day is half over in Ireland but when you’re finished I still have another 8 hours to go before I walk away! – sad life or what…
