Here's some photos from artists I've seen over the years.

Please remember in the old days no cameras were allowed and when you did manage to have a camera you had to dash to the stage before one of the old bouncers got hold of you, especially in the National Stadium.

There are many more concerts I attended but didn't chance bringing the camera as it would be taken off you.

This was before digital cameras, internet, U-Tube etc....

None of that existed when these were taken.

Pat

Coming up next are The Pirates.

Johnny Kidd & The Pirates were legendary.

But the band came came back together in the mid-70's and they were magic. Mick Green on lead guitar is regarded as one of the best.

This was 17 Nov 1978 in Trinity College.

Hi Pat,

just got your emails and checked out the photos! It made me smile to read on your opening page how no cameras were allowed or used in the prehistoric days of our early youth and then that is swiftly followed by 5 pages none stop of pictures in glorified technicolour! Going thru them reminded me of that summer day about two years ago and the two of us sitting in your back garden going thru tons of old photos after a lovely leasurily fun filled day out. I was at that Rory Gallagher gig and still have the top of my ticket which I kept as a sounvenir. While you were down having an up, close & personal Kodak moment I was down at the back probably thinking to myself who is that guy with the camera who is blocking my view!!! I'll have to send those pics to Chris and Sean. Chris looks younger now than he is in those. I did have good taste in boyfriends did'nt I but don't ever tell him I told you that! I'll show Sean the pics also. That brings back memories of you in your back garden parading around in the denim jacket which Chris had embroidered for you in his heyday of Sean's early band.....and just as you got your jacket embroidered and finished, they broke up! I swear there should be some compensation in life for tragedy's like that!!! Talk about that movie about the travelling pants.....I'm sure you could do a better one featuring the embroidered jacket! I must go thru my photos now and take a trip down memory lane........altho that may not be a very wise thing to do on my part as the last time that I downloaded pictures on this it took me about 3 months to figure out what in the name of Neil Young I was doing! Great pictures Pat....keep going thru your archieves and see if you have more!

Great to see all those pics Pat. I was at the Rory and ZZ Top concerts. Rory is my biggest musical hero and that was the second time I saw him live. I was 16 at the time.
ZZ Top were a real surprise. Eliminator had just come out but all the videos that catapulted them into super stardom were yet to come out. That concert was one of the last chances to see them in a reasonably small venue and it was a fantastic concert.

Thanks all,

These photos were done from the original photos as we weren't  sure the original negatives would be as good.

Camera Cabin in Swords scanned them in and that was I got out.

Glad to share them with you all and also glad to have them on a CD now.

I loved going to concerts.

Pity I couldn't bring my camera to all the gigs I went to.

Rollong Stones in Wembley, U2 in Atlanta, James Taylor, Iggy Pop, Dave Gilmour, Roxy Music, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Tom Petty, Alice Cooper, The Kinks, Fleetwood Mac, Ac/Dc, Elton John are a few that I can remember where cameras were banned.

They used to perform searches on you and if you had a camera it was taken off you.

Pat....maybe you should have hid your camera in your underpants like the like Cecil was talking about who use to hid his beverages in his undies!
