What do we think-the numbers seemed to be dwindling for the Old Schoolhouse in Swords but that doesn't mean there won't be a good crowd still. (need some kind of roll call?) The Great Escape are playing also in O'Shea's on 22nd-very good rock band-usually start at about 10:00-10:30ish. They were'nt able to tell me when Franklin were back,but they usually do play there at least every month (dare I say Mel-slightly better than the Great Escape) OR maybe another night/venue altogether? For me, I was prepared for the 22nd in Swords (city centre - Nep. was my preference) but Balbriggan is maybe another step? I could maybe stay at Mel's so I will try for whatever is favoured by the majority. Long Live democracy.

I had to say Ballbriggan..............BUT u know me even on home turf i may not be there...but i always go to osheas when they are playing..lol Doesnt matter if its Swords but would prefer o'Sheas I plan to meet up with you lot next friday wherever we end up Franklin do an early slot in Wrights in swords on a friday evening BTW for those who dont know and they play every sunday evening aswell in wrights from 930 must say Franklin arent as good as they use to be since Gavin their lead singer left, he plays locally aswell ------------- All I wanted was chips!! |

O'Shea's is creeping ahead,but there was also a request for another date. Thing is,there will of course be other nights out (they do seem to be getting very popular,which is great) and of course we will spread the venues around to make it easy for everyone (HD + BB etc) HOWEVER in a self indulgent manner I agree with Rolo and Pete-it's nice to have a nite out in 'our' neck of the woods sometimes as then we don't have the hassle of travelling inward (or more expensively homeward). Look-The Great Escape WILL be playing again,as will Franklin (as will Catch 22 and Flinch) usually on a monthly basis-all great bands in O'Shea's so let's runn with this until at least the weekend and we'll see what the majority decide-after all we can't make a decision at the last minute as people have overnights,transport and babysitting etc to arrange. Feel I haven't seen anyone in ages. and am giving serious consideration to visiting Balbriggan - well O'Sheas anyway. For last couple of weeks my visits have been fleeting, imagine work was getting in the way, well sod that for a game of soldiers. Well, I have done my bit for 2008.

Ahhhh....Martin thanks for remembering us "Westies 3" gang but honestly it's really easy for us to get into the city centre ( Nep ) cos we can always get a night link home or taxi if we're really pushed. We're not gonna make the 22nd  cos Friday night is just a bad night for us ( kids have drama class) But there'll be plenty more night for us to be there. Hope you all have a great night and don't forget to bring a camera.

I haven't rang the taxi guy back about the 22nd. As I said he will charge €20 per head there and back which sounds pretty good but we would need a minium of 6. I know a lot of ye were there last time,but to find O'Shea's... From M1 motorway,take first Balbriggan exit (signed Walshestown and Balbriggan-bit of road works going on building new roundabout),carry on through Balrothy into Balbriggan,past Texaco on the left and Bracken Court Hotel on the right. After AIB (on left),turn right at Golden Emperor (which is on the right) and De Bruins pub (which is on the left). Large car park on the left if 20 or so of you decide to sleep on my couch and just past it is the harbour. O'Shea's is behind 'HOME' nite club. Hi Mel No cover charge for the band never is on a friday nite except when likes of Aslan are playing Martin I think there is a cover for going up to After Dark 10 Euro last time i was up there Mel if u want to pay thats not a problem just make sure u pay one of the Balbriggan grovers they will make sure Mr Pratt will get the money...aint that right Martin "wink wink" ------------- All I wanted was chips!! |

Yeah-no problem!!! That man stood right beside me tonight doing the Lotto and he knows full well who I am but do you think he said hello? Did he sh*te! He's a businessman in the town and I'm just a lowly resident so he's 'above' me... No Mel-no cover charge for the band,and maybe it changes night to night but last time we went to After Dark we were led up a stairs from the pub which by-passes the cash desk. I heard before alright After Dark was free once you were downstairs before. Not mad about it myself,the music clashes with what was just played but hey-when in Romebriggan... I asked to reserve an area for about 8:00ish-doesn't mean everyone has to be there for then but try not to leave it too late as they could take it back-Friday does get busy in there. I'll be there for 8:00 anyway-(hopefully someone else will too!) and we can have a natter before the band starts-(usually about 10:00-10:30). Jeez ye cheeky pups we are all lovely down this neck of the woods...afterall there are many ex northsiders living down here Ah I hope you all have a great nite down in our expanding town Have my hubby(sadly he only went to grove once I think) coming with me tomorrow nite and another ex grover coming up from Clara co offaly just to meet up with the Grove gang that i keep going on about shes from artane and has great memories of her grove going days like we all have All going well I'll be there early we have a funeral tomorrow and hopefully the babysitter doesnt decide to have to many drinks at the wake and decide not to babysit...the hubby will have to babysit if that happens Friday nites are my nite out so he is use to it..lol So I'll see you all down in O'Sheas tomorrow nite wear your name tags so I'll know ye all Wont be too hard spotting the loonies with the guns and Hurls..hehe ------------- All I wanted was chips!! |
