I ABSOLUTLY DO NOT AGREE WITH R. Goodwins Sound Rating on this Boot !!! I would give a "6-7" it´s noisy but the sound is OK !!!
Track List: Immigrant Song, Heartbreaker, Since I´ve been loving you, Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Dazed & Confused, Going to Californiay, What is & what should never be, Moby Dick, Whole Lotta Love Medley, Communication Breakdown, Rock´n´Roll

From 1970/71???

I'm hazzarding an educated guess at 'Come On Everybody' and 'Something Else'

Maybe not encores and maybe not Dublin but I had an old bootleg  where these were played towards the end.

Ask him...

I'm not a music expert, but I'd guess it might be something from Ronan Keating? I'm sure the great musicians recognise and appreciate his innate talent?

Maybe his version of Fairytale of New York? still brings many tears to my eyes that one.....

Back to this question.

Is it their own favourite guitar solo, as in they played it or a guitar solo by someone else?

Good one Pat!

I was talking to Cecil about this one time and guessed the band, and he let slip the answer..
- It's a solo and a song and a band that we all know
- It's not played by Jimmy or Eric;
- I don't know if this track was played at the Grove, (probably was) but others by them definitely were!
and this is what makes it tough - the guitarist was a session musician - I couldn't even tell you his name
I did see an Eric Clapton documentary a while back and he confirmed it was his favourite solo...
want more hints?

Frank - it's not Jeff Beck, - but the name Beck.. is, er, in a way linked to the band.
(very cryptic there!)

the guitarist's name mightn't be as well known as the band with whom he played this solo with...

not Bo, Brendan; - more 'jazzy'

to put a time on it - this song was on a 1972 album, and in the single charts in '73

Reelin in the Years was from around 72-73 and has a great solo in it. Jeff Baxter was the name of the guitarist on that track.

Jeff "The Skunk" Baxter.

So it's "Reeling In The Years".

Good choice.

"Reelin' In the Years" is a song by jazz rock band Steely Dan, released as the sixth track on their 1972 album, Can't Buy a Thrill.
The song was written by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker and features Fagen on vocals.
Legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has said that Elliott Randall's guitar solo on "Reelin' In the Years" is his favorite solo of all time.
The 4-channel Quadrophonic mix of the recording has extra lead guitar fills not heard in the more common 2-channel Stereo version.

Very interesting - I had always thought that Baxter who was their regular lead guitarist played that solo.
