I am having problems with the
disc tray drawer on my computer.
I got disc label caught in the computer
and emailed Dell and have managed to open the drawer but now all I get is a whirr of a motor
but the drawer is completly limp.
I tried the eject button
and the eject command in my Roxio programme
but to no avail. Is there anyone out there
who can help or who knows someone
who might be able to help me.
Thanking you in appreciation(Frank aka The Monarch)

Use gentle force - it probably wont damage it!
If it breaks then so be it - they are cheap to buy and easy to replace.

Do you mean to take the drawer
completly away for the computer.
Have tried gentle force
but seems firmly attached
BTW It is a Dell Dimension 9150
if that makes any difference. With thanks(Frank).

Monarch, what you need is a paper clip! All CD/DVD drives have a tiny hole in them usually beside the eject buttom. If the eject button doesn't work, Stick the end of the paper clip/earring whatever into the hole...gently... you should be able to feel a soft push button with the end of the clip ...press it...this should release the tray and allow it to open.

Best of luck.

June.

Im going under the assumption that it won't open because the disk label (which I presume is paper) is stuck in there. Some gentle force even with a butter knife or something whilst trying to open it normally may help prise it out.

This is part of what I love about this place, post a note and you get a solution to the problem., or at least a pointer in the right direction.

Monarch

Is the PC still in warrenty... Phone tech support act dumb and tell them that the DVD draw won't open. If you phoned them already and told them a label is stuck then thats that idea out the window

2 Go to Marx Computers www.marxcomputers.ie and they are selling DVD writers from €50..

3 Open up the drive and take the label out if it is out of warrenty..

4. Don't buy Dell Dimension in the future The Optiplex's or XPS much better and relaiable machines...

5 Now go and have a beer

Peter
