Yep, its the start of one of thiose "I didn't see that coming" threads.
Some things I find funny after becoming a dad!!
Recently I was riffing away on my electric guitar like a good thing when
my oldest told me to keep the noise down as it was interupting his tv
programme. What's going on? It's like a flashback to living at home with
the parants (what do them f**kers know about rock'n'roll).
When did the 'yuf becoming so un-rebellious. Shouldn't this be the other
way round - me yelling at his to turn down that bloody noise that passes
for todays musak!! Is it me or shouldn't our kids be more concerned with
ruining their ears, drinking and smoking pot.
Its all gone wrong somewhere.
'Spose he did slightly redeem himself the other when he spotted a young
lady of the chav (still don't know what that stands for) persuasion and
commented "its hard to look cool in pink".

Hi Coline,
My family's always telling me turn down the music!!!! IPods are great for solving that problem.
And apparantly my jeans are too tight!!!!! Not mentioning my big belly.
Kids today (can't believe I said that) !!!!!!
If you find out what a lady of the chav means let me know.

Chav (AKA Skangers etc....) - the type of "Ladies" and "Gentlemen" (and I use the terms very loosely!) who walk around the streets of Dublin wearing their Pyjama's!!!!! Yes, I adore my jim-jams but why on earth would people decide to wear them on the street!!!!!! They usually accessorise them with some fake burberry, gold madallions, those massive soverign rings and a pair of nike air max!!!! Urgh, it doesn't bear thinking!!!!!

There was good section on guardian.co.uk Comment section some time ago about Chavs - like skinheads they are misunderstood. That's why most pubs and clubs in UK do not allow people wearing Burberry hats into pubs and clubs.

Talking to Tonto one night on the phone recently when our 9 year old Megan (who recently discovered Queen) was BLARING Boehemian Rhapsody and I couldn't here the phone.
Excusing myself to Tonto I roared up the stairs...'TURN THAT DOWN-I'M ON THE PHONE!!!'
When I put the earpiece back Tonto was roaring with laughter and said 'how can you do that? That was us 20 years ago'
He's dead right...

Coline.....I'm worried about you! I'm hoping your quote is in response to the thought of you wearing your comfy jim-jams rather than a fetish for chavs!!!!! If its the latter, maybe we should set up a support group!!!!!

I sometimes have that problem myself with my son Coline. WhenI am in teh car my son tels me to lower the volume he is just gone 12. Now I have to say I try and he does like a lot of musice I do. He has picked some songs by his own taste like AC/DC Highway to Hell Alice Cooper Schools Out and Motorhead "Ace of Spades with no help from me.
But anyway he made me proud yesterday. We went down to Bray yesterday and on the way back I tuned in Alice Cooper on Today FM playing "For those about to Rock" by AC/DC well he cranked up the volume and started headbanging and playing air guitar....
THATS MY BOY !!!

Yeah my boy is 7 and now wants to play the drums (god help us) thanks to the weekly dose of John Bonham and co. that gets blasted around the house. He also enjoys listening to Deep Purple and Guns and Roses but my sister tries to get him into listening to POP music which I hate. It's normally my wife and 4 year old daughter telling us to "TURN IT DOWN" and I must say we both play a mean air guitar.

Thanks Muller.
Have to say I felt great the next day. All the dancing loosened up a problem I was having with my hip (god that makes me sound like an oul' wan).
My air guitar was excellent. I'm teaching my almost 4 yr old to do the same.
Trying to get a babysitter to do the same tomorrow night with more mammies from a different playgroup.

I got caught in the act by my son (25) yesterday evening. I arrived home before going to the gym. There was rock music playing on the CD and I thought it sounded like early Zep. So I got into the groove and was doing the air guitar and head banging while putting away my stuff. Nobody around, methinks, so I really go for it. Then I see the afrementioned son watching me from the lounge with a big grin on his face. "Who's that?" says I, nonchalantly. "AC/DC". "Oh", says I, "They're very good" and slinked off to the bedroom to get my gear.

Brilliant!! The joys of air guitar!!!
Remember last year they had the then current champion for Air Guitar on the Late Late show - it was cringe watching it as Pat (or most of the audience for that matter!) didn't know what to make of it or what the hell to be doing while they were watching it! They ended up cutting it and going to break!!!!

Now there's a surprise, Pat the Plank being completely flummoxed by the Air Guitar craze.

I like the air guitar guy having his roadie tune it in.........

Yep, Pat is still on the box......he'll be there for some time too considering Gaybo didnt retire till he was around 70ish wasn't he. Can you believe they were already discussing who will eventually take over Pat when he finishes up (in about ten years!!!!) - the names mentioned were Ryan Tubridy, Grainne Seoige and that eejit that does the TV show with Grainne ----cant remember his name at the min, but I know his surname is O'Shea. God, if they give the job to your man O'Shea in a few years, we'll all be crying "come back Pat, all is forgiven"!!!!

I pick some kids up from school apart from my own and one is Luke who is about 14 and each day I have my Grove Cd's playing and just love the interest he gives to them. Today I noticed he was doing the little air guitar thing to the side of him thinking I could not see him. Got a bit of kick out of that. He really loves "More than a feeling". He normally asks me the name of the songs and much to my glory my two lads can normally answer him.... rockers in the making.
