Hey...I was a grove regular between 90-94...I sang in the band Sugardaddy Longlegs and we played in the grove, we had two lead singers and we played a lot of covers (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Metallica and the like) Anyone remember???? It would be nice to hear from you...they were great days!

Hi Billy,

I remember you guys - even though it was after my time as well (used to work in the Grove after I'd stopped going for my sins!).   Didn't Finbarr always bang out a few guitar solos when you were setting up? Never got to see you from the hall, but your band always sounded tight from backstage!

Welcome Aboard!

We played there twice I think...Then went on to other things..started writing our own stuff and changed our name to "The Remedy". The 2nd gig we ever did was at the Grove and it was quite packed. Lookin at the RTE documentary, and the scene were Cecil walked up on the stage and had the view down to the hall brought back lots of memories to me too...

I remember the band alright. I think maybe through my cousin, she was from Kilbarrack. All so vague...Did you have a member called Stew with blonde hair?

I think you played with my boyfriend's band in town a few times, Intrigued?

I've been in the UK for years so lost touch with loads of people once the Grove ended. This was the era before mobiles and emails after all. :(
But it's weird at the reunions I haven't recognised a soul. No 'Oh my God it's you!' moments have ocurred at all.

Same for me thought I would recognise a few faces but so far I haven't.

But on the other hand I have met some lovely people and enjoyed all the reunions I've been to.

I thought I recognised loads of people at the four nights I've been to so far. But assumed it was my mind playing tricks on me, that I couldn't possibly recognise THAT many people.

Pointed a bloke out to my wife on saturday and said - think I know him, but probably mistaken.

Brother saw the same fella on sunday and between us we remembered the name - he got the christian name, I got the surname.

But, I rarely see anyone I know out and about despite living near the same locality I grew up in. Maybe I need a few beers and some music to recognise old heads!

Yeah I wondered about that...if anyone recognises people from 20-30 years ago?? I doubt I would!  Doubt I will get to a reunion though :(

Carol

Maybe you should organise a get-together in the Shieling for when you're back in January. I'm sure some of the crowd here would turn up for a drink and a yarn, any excuse I'd say for a beer.

Now Now Donal - not just "any" excuse. It would have to be a real good one to get anyone here out for a beer.

Mind you, I rarely hear a bad one!

22yrs and 4 months!!!!.....most kids are only getting out of collage at that age now a days, how time have changed. Me and Rob were watching a documentary about times gone by and they said that girls got married at 13/14yrs because they did not live past 32/33yrs back then...........I'm glad times have changed.
