Hi All, just a quickie to let you know that tickets are now on sale at the Shieling Hotel. There'll be a limited amount available from Austin on O'Connell St. for those of you not able to make the hike out to Raheny.
Tickets are priced 15 euro. Apologies for the price increase, but the commission from RTE was not enough to cover all of the bills ran up by the documentary, so this will subsidise the overdraft. Also running costs have increased. But on more positive note, 2 euro from each ticket sale will go directly to a charity in Cambodia who uncover and remove landmines and also assist victims of landmine explosions. But more on that at another stage. Anyway, what are we apologising for? the Reunions are worth alot more than the 15 euros entry fee! Don't you agree?
P.S. That little treat mentioned in the previous post, never worked out, my apologies. Hopefully I'll have something for you at the Christmas one...

I was at Austin's today and he hadn't heard at that stage when they were available. I rang the Shieling myself at around 10.30am and no word there either - I was told another week or so.. so texted my friend and he rang the Shieling around 5pm and was told that they wouldn't available until Fri 29th..
Had to ring him back just now to tell them and he's going to ring the Shieling again tomorrow - he can't do it now and if I do, I won't be able to collect..
Hope they don't sell out before tomorrow?!?! I'll cry if they do, especially as I haven't been able to make the reunions bar the Easter one.

Ta.
Problem for me is that depending on what bus I get to go to work (I don't always go to O'Connell St - prefer to avoid it on normal morns), so I'm not sure if I can make it into town until then. I've no net in work either, so logging into here is out of the question until tomorrow night. Bah!
Hopefully my mate will pick some up tomorrow morn/afternoon.. and we've a sort of deal - it's who gets first, gets them. He/we have a few to get and there's one of the group that won't decide until last minute to go.

It's the same night as James Brown - can't dress up in tight black jeans and a Pearl Jam t-shirt to see the Godfather of Soul - or can I??
Reckon if I buy tickets I could buzz in at about 10.30 - 11pm??

Hi Guys, I just called the Shieling reception (01 8314222) and the person who answered the phone told me that yes, they have tickets for the Grove and that they went on sale today. So next time you call, and try to tell you otherwise, tell them that they DO have tickets on sale and that you'd like to buy some!
P.S. We'll be screening the documentary at 8pm, in the Shieling on the night of the Hallowe'en Reunion, so get down early!
Thanks again for all the kind comments regarding the documentary. See you on the 29th!

Confirmed. I went to The Sheiling tonight and bought 2 tickets for the October reunion.
I was talking to the Manager there and he's very excited about the Oct reunion as it'll probably be a sell out.
By the way I reminded him of the difficulties of getting a taxi after the reunions and he said he'd contact all local taxi companies and tell them to be available that night.

That's the problem with this country. Begrudgers
As Bono once said that in USA people would look at your house on the hill and say someday I'm gonna get me one of those but in Ireland they same I'm gonna get that guy who lives in the house on the hill.
The Grove is legendary and the documentary was a classic.
F**k what anyone else says

Hello everyone, just collected 2 tickets, I so excited its like getting your membership all over again!
Update: 92 tickets sold between 9am and 5.50pm this evening, The Sheiling said they are happy to take bookings by credit card over the phone, they won't acccept cheques if you are calling ( something to do with them not been written to The Shieling), cash, lazer, visa ok-.
Nice staff member told me they love these events, the buzz is great, the music, craic and the crowd! as far as they are concerned we can have them anytime! Could be a regular thing??? strange to say that the Grove was always an "alternative" club and years later it still is, there are no real venues for our age group and certainly not playing that music.
GET YOUR TICKETS QUICK!!!!

Hey there,
I'd love to go back to somewhere with all the grove music and see if I remember any of the faces, was supposed to go to the last re-union but it ended up being on the same time I was away.
Anyone know if there's any tickets left for the shieling in october??
Haven't got a credit card so have to try get up there if there is.
It was so strange watching the docu and remembering some of the faces .

Hi Diver (or should that be High Diver? )
Welcome to the site. Hope you stick around to tell us a few of your memories of the Grove.

There *should* still be tickets available I would imagine. Incidentally, not sure if it suits you but if the Sheiling is maybe a trek for you, tickets are (or should be) available from Austins news-stand on O'Connell Street, opposite Easons. Thats where I got mine from.
Again, welcome

Thanks for the welcome guys, I've really been thinking about the grove today since I logged in. Thinking back, it was brilliant, the knacker drinking then onto the grove, whats even funnier is it takes me less now to get locked, back then you'd have the naggin of vodka, cans and god knows what else, gettin stopped by the cops, being asked for ID and somehow getting away with walkin on up the road drinkin your can as you go! But you just didn't care, I wanna go back, such fun, what happend!!!
Oh I know, i know we got older, but hey there's nothing for us to thats as fun as back then . But thats life aint it, always lookin back wishing we could turn back time.

The Haloween reunion is the 3rd this year so far..
First was Easter, then August and next Haloween. There's also a Christmas reunion around 27 Dec.
So it's usually four.

Hi Cathy,
It has been four a year, but because the Summer is always a bit hit and miss, we've decided to keep it to 3 a year - Easter, Hallowe'en and Christmas. But, because it's the 40th anniversary of The Grove next year, that might entail another one. It will be a big event, with all proceeds going to charity.

Hi Crusty.....I really like that idea of having a big 40th anniversary
reunion next year.....but especially the fact that all proceeds going
to charity...I'm sure we could all come up with loads of interesting
ideas of how to make as much money as possible......so come on gang,
get your thinking caps on
