I love the face of kiddies who believe when they talk about Santa!  Can't wait till TLF is old enough to understand.

Yeah Xgh,

That's brilliant.

You get about seven - eight years per child, say two and a half to nine / ten if you're lucky. We're just at the far end of the scale now and it's real sad.

Smart little f***er on the road spoiling it for everyone...........

Gonna get Sharon after him.

My favourite bit,Christmas Morning and the excitement of the kids in that few minutes between getting up and actually seeing what they've got.

I love Christmas Eve and putting all the wrapped gifts and presents for de minors beneath the Christmas tree, and on the sofas and floor so that the place is magical and like wonderland for them the very next morning. I fill their stockings full of goodies and place a few toys at the end of their beds and last year I became inventive and left a trail of what I thought resembled the nearest thing to snowballs that I could find dans la Tropics and left a Hansel'n Grettal gone wrong trail of cotton (100%) wool balls leading from their beds across the top rooms, down the stairs and into the living room towards de tree. I gingerly scattered a few small little presents beautifully gift wrapped here and there for special effect and to give the illusion that a few things had innocently fallen from Santa's bag as he hurried down the stairs to leave the gifts. I was up before 5.am dot com like the lone elf that had escaped from Portrane doing all the finishing touches and trying balloons around de homestead....naturally enough they all started bursting one by one which was a pain in de bum and was nothing short of giving everyone colonic irrations a la carte for the rest of the day with de fright. When the minors woke up I was expecting to hear a joyous exclamation from them on seeing the wanna be snow balls that were gingerly loitering on the floor. Instead I was subjected to and I quote "Why are there cotton wool balls all over the floor?" In my best non Oscar winning Scarlet O Harlot voice I casually replied that it looked very much like snow balls to me ... trying to break on thru to de other side and get them in tune with their imagination. Andres looked at me as tho I was el deranged and said "No mum! They're cotton wool balls!" kicked one in de air and shouted "Come on Veacha! Lets see did Santa come!" Was'nt quite expecting such a Baltic response but luckily I am a girl who ignores such trivia! There was great excitement as they looked down the stairs and saw the wonderland of gifts and the excitement when they saw that Santa had demolished his bottle of cider and biscuits, plus Rudolf too. I had suggested that the red nosed one could have been left a bottle of cider (which may I add I was looking forward to having myself !!!) but my offspring put me in my place and informed me that he could not have alcohol as he was driving de bloody slay!!! He informed me yesterday that he is buying the red nosed one and de man in red 'Lukazade' ... i hope it will be laced with something else if ye get my drift! This year I was planning on omitting the said cotton wool balls phomonima from the whole festive scenario until two days ago I heard Andres telling Veacha that Santa always leaves a trail of snow balls from their bedroom down to wherever the gifts are. Since they were upgraded and back in fashion this season I had to run out and purchase a few bags of ECO friendly 100% cotton wool balls. This year Andres is 6yrs old and the girls are 4yr, 2yr & 1yr so the little ones should be more aware of everything. The only thing that pees me off as we in de trade say is that the toys nowadays are wired and tied so securely into the boxes that it would be far easier to break (a) wind or (b) out of al Catraz blindfolded. Then you have to assemble everything and then you are required to provide batteries for most toys!!! When I was small you got a toy and it was complete when you took it out of the box. There was none of this farting around doing D.I.Y stuff and needing Masters Degrees to put something together for a two year old. Not looking forward to that bit this year but I'll be prepared mind you with a 'Screwdriver' in hand de following morn!! Shaken not stirred!!!

I sent all my Christmas cards over two weeks ago to Irlanda and spent from 8am-4.35pm scribing  them none stop. My brain was that flustered doing them that on half of them I penned & I quote "wishing you a very happy birthday". The sad bit is I left them like that and the more tragic and concerning bit is I sent them that way. Sure it adds character. Worse than all that, my friend John was here and I told him I had written all my cards for Easter! So I would say that this would be the perfect opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Halloween this season.

 Hi Ann

Try http://www.graphics-by-celeste.com/holiday - http://www.graphics-by-celeste.com/holiday  for flashing trees and more!

What an adventure at Christmas you make for your children--6,4, 2 & 1.... phew!! thats hard work but you're making lovely memories too.

Veacha is a gorgeous name, is it traditonal? what are the two little ones called?

Just heard another for your collection, someone I know sprinkles talcum powder over their fireplace hearth and then they make footprints in it..great isn't it, lots of traditions out there.

p.s always loved a Sandeman hot port meeself and mulled wine and bits of the turkey and ham straight from the oven (illegally) on Christmas Eve,agree with you about the sherry too.

Have a very good and happy one!

Hi Stevie,

you will go phew again when I tell you that I became the very proud and delighted mother of three little girls in the space of 8 months. You'll need to knock back a large Sandemans now! Our daughters were all born in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Veacha's name is Khrmer and it means "Destiny" so I could not change that! The baby Rachanna is also a Khrmer name and it means "Art, Fine Art & Artistic decoration" and as I have lived my whole life believing in fate & destiny, and everything I do is art related how could I change their names. Veacha's name is pronounced VAY-CHA and she is ever so proud of it. Our first little daughter is Mireya Eleyna and she is named after my mother Eileen who passed away 3 years ago on Christmas Eve. Her name is Spanish and means Miracle & Eileen. Andres was born in Mexico so we are a bit like the League of Nations!

Re; Talc trick. Last week I thought I had stepped into Antarctica when I opened the door into our TV room & was fumigated via a dense cloud of said talc. The two babies had got a large family size box of johnstons talc, managed to open it and they were screaming with joy as they ran around covered in white from head to toe as was the floor, tables, sofas, even the ceiling fan....all I saw when I looked at Frosty & Co were two sets of gorgeous big brown eyes with the longest black eyelashes you could ever dream of gazing back delighted at me. As Frosty's mother went to retrieve the empty bottle of talc she nearly choked to death and slide across the floor. The Talc stunt sounds good but (a) I don't have a fireplace and (b) don't know if I would be up to cleaning it up the next day!!! So you can see my dilemma!!! Having said that I am sprinkling a gorgeous white snowflake glitter all over the gifts for magical effect!!!! http://rds.yahoo.com/S=96062857/K=christmas+clip+art/v=2/SID=e/l=II/R=12/SS=i/OID=8701e3fb1d06ddf6/SIG=1g8lhakq8/EXP=1135167677/*-http%3A//images.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3F%20">

I love Christmas, I really do and everything about it.  The one thing I always loved was the Christmas carols at Mass but they don't do them in the States only on Christmas day and they don't put the crib up either until Christmas day!!!! I think that's a shame.  Darragh my oldest is singing in the choir on Christmas Eve.

Anyhow from early December I have my Christmas "Now" CD's going in the car.  The kids love it.  I clear the house out and replace all my usual nick knacks with all my Christmas paraphernalia - as my sis in law says "Gosh everywhere you look there something for Christmas" - yep she's right.  I even have Santa's clothesline hanging from the fireplace.

I'll go to world market and make sure I have pudding and brandy butter and Cadburys fingers just to make sure I have a bit of home.  I also love the mulled wine - ummmm the smell.  The turkey and ham and cranberry sauce.  The stuffing ahhhhhhh. The Christmas tree, I love to just sit and look at it.

This year there a Thomas the tank train table to build and a wooden train track to assemble!! Picture that after a feed of wine... Like Ann I will put presents all around.  I have two trees so some gifts will be as they come down the stairs and the others down under the other tree and I will fill their stocking full of goodies.  There's Furby and whack a mole! Don’t ask... everything they asked for...

It's all about the kids and it's all about friends and family! It's a great time of year to be NICE......Nice remember Nice Teresa....

I stopped watching after next generation.  What I saw of her flicking between channels I didn't like.  Haven't seen Star Wars two and three yet I'm ashamed to admit.  Have to rectify that over Christmas.

Yo Rolo,

Back in Emerald Isle since 28 Jan.

Had a great trip as usual. Thailand is my favourite place for lots of reasons. Been headin there for 14 years now, some day I won't be back Wink

Was there last year when tsunami hit.

I arrived in Bangkok on 24th and the tsunami hit 26th. I stay on the top floor of my hotel every year. I was on the razz 25th, being Christmas and all.

I was awakened at about 8am on 26th by the lights rattling in my room and I jumped outta the bed and I felt the room swaying.

I thought it was the gargle from the night before, but I knew I wasn't that bad.

Then it all went still again and I looked out the window of the hotel and checked the hallway and all was quiet.

So after about an hour I headed for the pool to catch a few rays and stayed there till 4pm.

It was only when I went back to the room and opened the TV did I realise what had happened that morning and over the rest of the holiday was in touch with the enfolding disaster.

Local TV covered it and there was no gettin away from the horror of what happened.

This year I took a trip to Phuket and was on the beach where the tsunami struck but you'd never know anything ever happened.

They now have tsunami escape routes sign posted.

The Prime Minister has a hotel in Phuket which is why it got priority it being rebuilt.

I believe others affected areas are still not up and running fully yet.
