I'll trade a copy of my Karaoke version of Herman's Hermits "There's a Kind of Hush" to anyone with a copy of the Grove documentary.

I have a copy on DVD myself, lads, but so many "newer" Grovers have come along to reunions etc., since it aired and many of them haven't seen it - a few of them didn't even know it existed.

Edit: Pat - thanks for going to such lengths, enquiring about the documentary with RTE etc.,  no harm in trying I suppose.

Mel, I have checked this out with RTE (have relation works there). The actual recording is held by Animo Productions and I have emailed them on numerous occasions with no response. So I think the possibility of it ever being released on DVD or aired again are very slim Cry.

I do have it on DVD myself but have given all my spare copies away.

You are right Pat, the link is out of action. the funny thing is if you do a search on RTE the reunions come up and other linked documentaries are all about The General and Dublin crime bosses. Sure we hardly did any drugs at all in the GroveNuke

I have the documentary on disc if you want a copy...I think?

That was a very emotional part of the documentary. Most of us only have a few years in our grove 'career',. but Cecil had 30 years - returning to St. Pauls must have been very traumatic for him. It showed me he still cared despite having to retire in '97.  Its also great that Cecil attends the reunions as otherwise, I don't think he would get the recognition he deserves. Its like we give something back to him at those event and via the tributes on here. I owe alot of my musical education to Cecil and am glad he taught the good stuff.....

I never tire of watching the Documentary. The first time I watched it the tears were rolling Man.

I have had tears myself watching the doc, especially the part where Cecil runs out of St.Paul's crying...he could see the sea of heads for a moment...I could too, took me back to when I'd be sitting on the stage watching the moshes...its as vivid as yesterday...

It is a bit ironic that The Grove has figured in my life

exactly twice that amount of time,44 years.

I would have loved to have been there at the beginning at the original Grove Frank,I've heard the stories, they were great times...but I have my memories from St.Paul's,and the various venues since, and have met Grovers from all the eras, yourself included, and have great memories myself

My son was born in '71...a direct result of the Grove, a small tent in Donabate, a Bottle of Bacardi & Coke and a six pack of Carlsberg Special.
