Just a twist on the other thread under 'Songs from The Grove'.

Honestly, what was your first fast and slow track to dance to?

Mine was in 1972.

Fast track 'Little Willy' by The Sweet and first slow track 'A Little Bit Of Love' by Free.

No messin, be honest, look at the name of my first fast dance

Poor memory for a young one

Not first kisses, first songs

The kisses came later

Pat,

From a dodgy memory, I think it was "Ripples" by Genesis (fabulous song and one of my faves) and "Whole Lotta Love" by Zep.

I don't know if it was the first song I ever heard there but Venus by Shooking Blue was one of them

or was it Focus by Hocus Pocus

I'll have to check dates ( years even ) with Cecil

Can't remember my first quick or slow at the Grove Pat - honest.

Unlike most on here, I'm not a huge music fan - I like most of the Grove stuff, but it was the atmosphere and the buzz and the feeling of belonging that I was into miles more than the music.

My first slowie was at a St Paul's social a few weeks before my Grove debut - the set included "Living Doll" by Cliff Richard and the Young Ones???? Can that be true? I certainly snogged (or got off with) a girl during that song.

Maybe Cliff Richard isn't too bad after all

Can remember the first fast song - The Whole of the Moon by the Waterboys. I knew the song previously, but had never heard it played that loud - it seemed to take on a new quality.

I mentioned in a previous thread that I also remember Wild Flower by the Cult - a couple of songs in, but memorable as was my first mosh, seemed spontaneous at the time, but then I realised it was the norm...

Slow song not sure - might be 'All out of Love' by Air Supply?

Do not have a clue as what was the first songs I heard at the Grove. But would say

   1. The experience of being there and

   2. hearing music that loud and it being my music.

It wasnt a Grove song when I was going, SHH, but I see the single cover on the Front Page of the site so I reckon it was.  Great song isnt it. ?

Very sad though Mick died in a car accident when he was very young early thirties he was married and left a young two year old daughter behind . I was  living in england at the time can still remember my sis phoning me up to tell me was really awful.

he was a great guy and I still have very fond memories of him.
