I read an amazing quote on another message thread earlier lads (a poker-playing one I still lurk on, even though I hardly play cards any more - but I did play big-time for 6 or 7 years ... Anyway):

From a science-fiction writer you've probably come across - Isaac asimov (1920-1992). Some of these writers (including eg H.G.Wells) were little short of geniuses in their own way. Asimov has a character in one of his books say the following: " it seems to me, ..., that the advance of civilisation is nothing but an exercise in the limiting of privacy"

I think that is just astounding future-thinking, given Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Privacy is a fast-diminishing reality for lots of people. Anyway, just thought I'd pass that one on ...😊

If you think about it, blushing is possibly the only reason we don't lick our own balls and sniff each others backsides.

Absolutely Pat. I was always struck by a quote I heard from a famous philosopher - might have been Nietzsche : "Most men live their lives in quiet desperation".

I read that many years ago, thought it was a very sad, if true, statement. I always determined I would not be that man (and so I live my life in noisy desperation lol)
