I read a book a few years ago about 3 girls growing up in Dublin and for a short while they went to the grove on a Sat night....wonder if this was the inspiration for the movie....must go and see if I can root the book out....it was written by a irish author (can't remember her name though)

"Plot Outline: Although 32A is a Dublin bus route, the story is about a teenager who comes "of age" in 1979."

I hope it not just another "personal" coming of age - suspect so, as '79 was before the s**t really hit the fan in the mid-80s.  If so, a pity, as I would expect Aiden Quinn (who was in "Michael Collins") to be a bit more aware of the need / story-telling value in also covering the "big picture" (I don;t blame him for Michael Collins being so confusing - should been a mini-series to do any justice to the factions etc.).

I still think the music from the documentary would be a huge seller. What a collection of sounds. One CD with a lot of great music together.

As Bluebell stated what a Christmas CD to get.

If for charity maybe the artists would forego the royalties.

Maybe I'm a dreamer but...........
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Noodles....your talant is wasted here...I reckon you could write a book with all your songs/poems and even memories from the grove years.....if RTE won't release the dvd of the grove cos of copy right...then you could write the book about it instead....would be a no1 seller

I was just wondering if it was possible to get hold of a copy of the documentary somewhere as I'd love to see it. My best memories of growing up are being at the Grove and I'd love to show my wife (country girl that she is) what all the hype was about. I'd love to hear if anyone knows where I can get a copy.

Hi Donal -  you can find the documentary online. it can be downloaded via bit torrent at:

http://www.torrentreactor.net/view.php?id=593300

you may need to install a divx codec and this can be found here:

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

I takes a few hours to download - even on broadband - BUT IT IS WORTH IT!

Freebird Donal copied your copy for me - we must be breaking every copyright law there is eh? but I have had the BEST evening reminising and had all the same emotions again with each song that was played, could remember the people, the fellas I fancied at the time...everything. Now am wondering where they all are. I phoned my oldest friend in Ireland, we have remained best friends since we were 15 and put her onto the website too..she is very excited. She said she was at the reunion that Cecil was at (not sure if its the one on the DVD or if he went to many after that). I'd love to go to one of the Dublin ones, would you?>
