Where and when and with whom (if you remember) did you have your first alcoholic drink?

Mine was when my Da took me to Kavanagh's on the Malahide Road. I had completed my Inter Cert and I'll always remember I had two glasses of Guinness and they tasted like heaven.

That was in 1969 and the next time I had a jar was when my Da took me to Kealy's pub in Cloghran, with my Ma, and that was in 1971 after my Leaving.
And the rest as they say is history

Great way to be introduced to alcohol and I did the same with my two sons but not in the same places

May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Coles in Fairview ( as it was called then beside the cinema which was still open then )

A pint of Bass, snuck down to me at the very back of the bar by my mate who was a lounge boy for the summer. Then onto the 44A and to the Grove.

Barney's on Eden Quay, beside Liberty Hall.

Probably Harp, remember thinking it was sh*te and having to put a drop of lime in it.

Was a late enough starter, would have been 17 I reckon.

Making up for it now though

I have to say i never went knacker drinking before i went to the grove i was either in some1s house or the flowing tide

but 1st offial drink was when my mum handed me probably a fiver on my 18th birthday and told me to go buy myself a glass of harp ffs had to pretend it was woefull even if i was on pints heinekin at that stage

What was with drinking Harp in those days it was sh*te

Mine was sneaking the sherry in the Ma's sideboard as a little kid.

First real drink was at the Horse n Hound..A pint of William Youngers at age 14. Had no trouble getting served and it became a regular from then on.

Grove days was The Sheds mostly.

maybe it was some where else but i think it was the crofton now regency in whitehall.

i use to drink harp which i liked and carlberg special brew which was pretty awful to say the least.

Lover of life and good rock music of all kinds and basically a happy camper as long as everyone else is happy in the nappy (did i really say that? he! he!

I'd say my first drink was a whiskey, my Da always had a bottle in the press and we used to take a slug and pretend to be drunk. Advanced then to flagons of cider in St Annes park. First pint was the tv room in Dollymount House. Being the tallest I had to go to the hatch and the barman would have to stick his head out to see ya. A pint of Harp and not to forget "Sally O Brien , the way she might look at ya"

Reading above it's amazing how much "Harp" was taken.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

First drink was a pint of smithicks. Would have been '87 direction after the Inter Cert. Still amazed I got served, it was in the old airport hotel (now the Regency) on the Swords Road in Whitehall.

We used to have Harp at home, particularly at xmas - one or two were not noticed as disappearing from time to time.
