When I log on here I find it hard to stop reading through all the different posts.

Come here for 10 mins and presto am still here after 30 mins.

Some great topics and especially some great fun, banter and I kinda seem to be gettin to know all you guys as friends even though I've never met any of you, at least I don't think so.

 Clap to you all

May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Now Pat, here's my thoughts - on one occasion when I am home I would love to get together with the people I have met here, I am telling you we would have some blast!

As for this website - it's ruining my life - Hey Crusty have you something lined up for us when we are all unemployed due to this factor!!!! You’re the demon himself aren't you?  You knew this would happen to us... LOL

Hi All,

This forum is ruining my work ethic entirely.  I come in with great intentions of not logging on until lunchtime and then I go, sure I'll just log on the once and see if there's anything interesting and then i have to post and then I have to check to see if anyone replied to the post or there is anything interesting happening..............and it all just goes to sh*te.  But isn't it fun!

I'm going to try and manage my addiction but I don't know where to start.  I'm going away for three days next week for work and I'm already wondering how I'll manage the withdrawal....!!  I should be missing my family not a website.LOLLOLLOLLOL

And I keep losing where posts are, if anyone hears about tickets can they post a new topic on it so I get plenty of warning to go down and annoy Austin on O'Connell Street!

We have not inherited the earth from our ancestors, we have only borrowed it from our children.

Ye who ever hears about the Tickets please let us all know I think I will ring every morning as they should be out this week....

Pat,I totally agree with your sentiments.

You're actually afraid not to read all the posts in case you miss something.

Think Eejit's suggestion is magic, and the sooner the better ( but we're not going to Drogheda,Lenny.)

Xgh, I'm away for a few days as well and don't know how I'm going to keep up at all.

Maybe they'll all have new mates when we get back.

Now as there's no one else around tonight, I'm off.

I just dropped the tickets into the Shieling tonight at half ten, so they'll be
on sale first thing in the morning. I'll be dropping them off at Austin's in the
morning (as in Thursday morning). Thanks for all the support guys, it's great
to see all the activity on the site.

Sorry Lenny, It's all these different forums.

Eejit mentioned that on her next visit home we should all get together,ie seniors and groupies for a session.

Hence the bit about Drogheda .

Yes, it certainly is addictive and seems to have appealed to all those who appear to have an addictive nature but on a more positive note as least if we ever decide to seek therapy we will all find comfort and solace in the fact that we will all know each other (to an elctronic platonic degree!) and be in the best of company, even if I do say so myselfEmbarrassed. I don't 'work' in de traditional sense as in going out to a 9-5 job ( I was born with a severe allergy to that, uniforms & custard!) as I have my office at home. When this website was first sent to me I thought that I would just look it up once and get on with life. How wrong could I have been!As soon as I open my eyes in the morning and swing my legs off the bed I find myself walking in auto pilot down the stairs to my office to switch on my computer and I'm on the site to see if there are any life changing newsflashes. Needless to say I have to read the entire list of new posts for fear that I will miss out on anything exciting. Have to say I do enjoy the craic and hilarity of the whole thing.Throughout the day any time I pass my office I am like a bloody cukoo clock gone wrong sticking my neck into the office to check if there is any new mail gracing de silver screen. If there is I cannot relax or continue to do whatever it is that I was engrossed in untill I have opened that mail and read it completely. Even if I walk up into my husbands office and I see a little electronic unopened envelope sadly lying unattended to on his toolbars the first thing that comes out of my mouth is "Do you know you have a new email?" The bit that kills me is that he usually respondez vouzs in the affirmative. This I cannot understand at all.....how anyone could leave an email unopened for more than one second. This coming from a girl who I must admit but never in public, often sends herself a little email just to check that the email is functioning correctly and also for that little thrill of seeing the envelope appear!!! My heartrate goes up when that happens! thank God I don't have a 9-5 job as I don't think I could take it!!!! the last thing at nite before going to napland is also surprising enough check the site just to see if anyone has scribed any new gems of wisdom......when that is done, I can then retire to de land of nod, in peace. Amen.

For those of you who are travelling or away from your computers for a few days or hours, one suggestion is bring a laptop with you!!!! I would not leave home without mine!!!! When I am travelling the first things that I pack are my laptop, CD player with selection of about 200CDs (most of my collection is a repeat of all my favourite albums that I already have back in Ireland!!!) and an iron. I have 7 irons as we speak due to having to purchase them in remote places where I went and there were none in de establishments where I was in residence. Once I have my laptop I feel that I am in connection with civilization no matter where in the world I am. On the rare occasion when I have not had my life line with me I must confess to being found in the "Business Center" of the hotels! The only thing that irritates me about the said "Business centers" is the ridiculous fees they charge such as US$8 for 10 mins in Cambodia!!!! It took me nearly 10 mins just to open my account and I had not even read one email never mind starting on de reply!!!

It must be great for anyone who has access in de workforce to a computer these days as you could not only have a ball being on line but also look so engrossed in your work (from a distance & once they could not see what you were actually reading!!!) that you would be nominated for promotion in no time at all!!!!! So as you can see there are definite plus signs to everything!

I too am getting a bit Confucius about what is happening with the various topics listed and then the posts below them have taken on a life-force of their own!! This morning for example I was innocently going to list my 5 Favourite songs in the category for the said 5 favourite songs. I clicked on the topic and went to see if anyone had added any new lists......I got such a complex about putting my 5 songs up as I thought I would be like a gate crasher disturbing the flow of non related 5 favourite song happy chat that was happily in full flow!

Ps I too have the original with a less crumpled man handled cover than I would imagine Biker Pat is in the proud pocession of!!!Wink

I was 'outed' at a dinner in London on Saturday night by someone I'd never met before in my life.

It took her just two guesses to work out my alias on this forum (xgrovehead, she guessed you first!).

And here was me thinking that you could be incognito on the internet...

I am so tempted to put her full name up on the forum in retaliation, but I'm too nice!

The subject of the Grove came up (there were lots of Irish people at the dinner) and I mentioned that I had become a bit addicted to this forum.  I've no idea why she thought I was you first, I was stumped when she actually guessed me correctly second time round to be honest, given that I've got so few posts.  It was a pretty surreal moment....

Well there are very few of us posting regularly and very few females of a certain age profile based in Ireland, so it wouldn't take Sherlock Holmes I suppose.  So there must be lots of people lurking out there in cyber space watching the posts to see can they spot someone they know...................

I'm not actually based in Ireland, but I think I did mention in one of my earlier posts that I live in London which was probably what gave the game away!

Still, it's the last thing you'd expect on a Saturday night out in London though.  Small world really.
