I think Jumping Jack Flash by the Stones was in there and a song called Good Time Coming by Bitch.
So we should now be able to get the definitive list.

In the making of the documentary we discussed the song appropriate to my part driving the bike out of the shed.
Originally "Born To Be Wild" was mentioned but fair play to Joe (Director) he put in The Pusher by the same band Steppenwolf, which was my prefered choice.
A great song, full of meaning

Mel,
If you look at the start of Easy Rider there's a scene where they run the camera up the forks of the chopper to the sound of "The Pusher".
Seeing that scene for the first time, way back in '71, just blew me away and with the rest of the movie changed the course of my life in a way, I just wanted a motorbike and the whole freedom associated with riding a motorbike. Have'nt changed since.
That's why "The Pusher" was used.
I think to better effect as well for the shot in the doc.

Was in Maplin's again !!! and they have this gadget that can get you to record vinyl to CD.
It costs 164 and I'm thinking of investing in one after I come back from hols in the New Year.
The only query I have is whether the lead can go from my stereo into a PC, i.e do I have an out port.
I also have to get a CD burner for my PC and that raises another question re space on my aged computer.
If all this comes to fruition then we can all have a copy of the Bitch single.

Just to let you all know Puy's family and friends gathered round to watch the documentary, with translation from herself and her sister.
They were thrilled and now the Grove and Cecil are known in a small part on North West Thailand.
Staff at out Hotel in Bangkok also viewed the doc and I'm now being called superstar by the staff, all of whom I know very well as I've been staying at the same hotel and on the same floor for 12 years now.

Hey Pat. That is so brilliant. The odyssey is nearly over now. Hope you are still having a great time. I won two 6-nations jerseys at the Ulster Bank kick for a ticket competition at the IFSC on Wednesday. Great craic - Keith Wood and Girvan Dempsey were there and very approachable. I think I will try to get to the Italy game in Rome.
I was looking up the Internet for a colleague who wanted to buy Lerato's book. Google returned your GSC post from December on the section where we told everyone who wanted to read about our favourite books. You are even more famous!
Are you doing any biking over there?

Not my fame.
I think the folks in Thailand were fascinated that a DJ, Cecil, could run a disco for 30 years.
They were also fascinated by all the dancing styles, clothes, music etc as shown in the documentary and that so many people were influenced by the Grove.

you may need to install a divx codec and this can be found here:

I takes a few hours to download - even on broadband - BUT IT IS WORTH IT!

Was talking to Gary (Aries) and we've arranged to meet Friday and I'll give him a copy to burn.
He will then burn more copies for anyone who needs it.
For those of you who have'nt seen the programme you're in for a treat as it's a masterpiece of TV directed by Joe Mc Elwaine and supported in no small manner by Andy and Cecil and others and has a soundtrack to die for.

The webcast debate was discussing that the doc be shown again.
If I remember Joe Mc Elwaine (director) telling me that the viewing figures were somewhere near 200,000, correct me if I'm wrong Joe, I know I have the figure in some forum.
And I met a guy this week who I was working in Aer Lingus and had'nt seen him in 9 years and the first thing he talked about was the doc.
And the reaction I got and from what others told me, the general opinion was that is was a classic piece of TV.
So why not show it again.
It's not like RTE have so much classic material to fill their programme schedule.

I agree Pat. We should all commit to e-mailing RTE to rebroadcast the show and our Webcast as well. I started watching the RTE2 movie last night - a local production called Goldfish Memory or something like that. I just didn't get it and switched off.

I cant see why RTE shouldnt show the doc. again. I'm sure there are many who havent seen it, Sky + it or recorded it in some form. I know it's a Dublin thing, so to speak, but if Pat's/Joe's figures are correct then why not show it again?? I'm gonna e-mail 'em anyway.

This is Bitch, the band whose single, "Good Time Coming", I played on the documentary.
Originally called "The Clevedonaires", from Clevedon just south of Auckland, New Zealand they came to UK in 1971.
Line up Graham Brown, Rob Aicken, Gaye Brown, Ron Brown. The Browns were all related, two brothers and Gaye the sister.
"Good Time Coming" was not a commercial success which makes it all the more amazing that Cecil had their record and played it and that I heard it and got it eventually and that it ended up on the documentary.
So if I'm ever in Clevedon, I expect a couple of free beers
p.s thanks to Derek Farrell for the pic

We put on the Doc last night with a glass of wine...what a fab show. It has Jackie,Kay,our own Crusty,a shot of Hayseed, oh,and some fellah with a bike... ( )
It has a great shot with Tonto's brother,Dave, showing Cecil his original Grove pass.
It's very hard to keep up with the soundtrack sometimes. When the intro to a tune comes on,no sooner do you remember it then anothe starts. Tune after tune, memory after memory, each one a true (as Cecil puts it) 'Grove song'.
Was a great evenings viewing, but leaves you a little sad, only because you immediatley want to be transported to a re-union,or back to the real thing twenty odd years ago.
A fitting but slightly final little twist at the very end after the credits is where Cecil slides closed one of his famous singles boxes,as if sadly never to be opened again.

I guess Cecil did really close those boxes in 1997 thinking they would remain shut. But the wonderful thing is that he continues to play those songs at reunions and we can all get together to celebrate on a reasonably regular basis. Plus the Grove finally got the recognition it deserved through the documentary and subsequently by 32a, DJing on Phantom FM and general interest in the website. So the spirit of 67-97 lives on.

Yes-hear,hear,hear.
And Pat-any similarities to the vocals on Good Time Comin to CCR being the reason you liked the song??? Think it's a ringer for early Fogarty...

Had a friend who's home from Germany who came to visit last night-we showed her the doc and as SOON as Bitch came on she said-'Oh-thats CCR!!!'
I laughed out loud just as Pat came into the picture strumming beside the stereo!
