Hey there

As a vetran of the mid to late 80's here and all i can say is its great to see the old format revived for those who cherished their sat night in a pair of docs and all in black .. be it goth punk metal-head or sorry trasher as they were then called.

Me personally I have been dj since roughly the same time as i started attending the grove and let me tell you Cecil (influenced is not the word) my set lists then and still does nearly 16 years later

Rainbow, Zep, Deep Purple, Ram Jam, Metallica,LSkyn, etc are not only played every fri & Sat in my local they are the most requested pieces on the set.

Thank you Cecil you forged a musical taste and helped me forge a decent second living doing what i love most

Regards

Shay

Shay

Just read your post and agreee with you 100%

I was going down to the Grove from 82-85, I met my best Freinds there and became serious about wanting to be involved in music in some way or orther.

I remember my first night down there, did'nt know if i was going to fit in, but Remember walking around the place, everyone was dressed in the same clobber as me, sat down was listening to the music, and thought to myself  I'm home !

I think someone on this forum said that Cecil was the John Peel of his day, I agree, but would also say that he deserves an acheivement award. he kept us lot Rocking for thirty years !
