Wow Pat and Ann, those are amazing lists. Off the top of my head David Byrne, Bic Runga, Page and Plant, Lenny Kravitz, Ziggy Marley, The Pale, Sinead O'Connor, Bjork, Alannis Morrisette, REM, Jethro Tull, John Spillane, Aha (stick it in, they'll never notice and anyway you were 12, but we'd go to see them again wouldn't we, my precious..), The Walls, ACDC, Cake, The Stunning, Katell Keineg, US3, Mitcheners, Divine Comedy, David Gray, and thats all I can think of right now. |

ps. JAYUS BIKER PAT...CAN'T BELIEVE YOU SAT DOWN AND SCRIBED ALL THAT IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER!!! When you get to my age it's the only way you get to remember. Start with A and work your way through the alphabet. Joking I just thought it would be easier for you younger folks to read. I see a lot of similarities in our lists. |

I have detected a little bit of hysteria in a few posts over the prices of concert tickets etc. Things like that have never bothered me I must confess as I always looked on it as a day or evening out of live entertainment, a social event where you meet peole you know, you are seeing someone that you admire play live.....it is a speacial treat that you do for yourself, not like something that you tend to do every day. I have gone to bummer gigs where I felt totally ripped off and walked out half way through but I am pleased to say, they are in the minory. Most of the concerts I went to, I enjoyed and have wonderful memories of......

Ok I have a question! Pat maybe you can answer but anyone who can shed some light is fine: The Band - do you remember them, can you tell me a little bit about them if so - good or bad. I remember a few songs that my band of brothers played: The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down Rag Mama Rag (I think was the name) Anyone? |

"Well you see, we elder lemons both have good taste in de music, hence de similarities." Ann! Are you saying Biker Pat has good taste in music? Well many moons ago, I was over in his gaff in Celtic Park and he showed me his record collection. I nearly threw up. He had every bleedin' Top of the Pops compilation, plus every K-Tel plus "Now thats what I call Music" 1 thru 30. Oh and the creme de la creme........ "Oops upside your Head" by the Gap Band. I stopped hangin' out with him after that. |

Eejit, You wanna get yourself a copy of the last Waltz, which is a live recording of the Band's last gig and featured a stack of guests,Dylan,Morrison,Dr.John,Muddy Waters,Neil Young,Clapton ....... I think they originally backed Dylan in the Sixties, their main man was Robbie Robertson who had a couple of solo albums with a couple of excellent songs, if you're not familiar with "Somewhere down the Crazy River", go get it. I'll do the gig thing later. Rolo. Edited by Rolo |

The Gig Thing, First biggie,as I've said somewhere else was Horslips in about'78 at the Stadium ( is that the one you're talking 'bout Eejit ?) I've seen Lizzy a couple of times,Clapton,Page and Plant,Rory Gallagher,Dylan,Stones at the Point last year, never been to Slane, not mad about the festival thing,David Byrne a few times,Motorhead,Echo and the Bunnymen,Tom Robinson Band,In Tua Nua,Robert Plant solo,Stranglers,Pretenders,Paul McCartney,Springsteen,Simple Minds,Human League,Stereophonics,Manic Street Preachers, a revamped Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Point couple of years ago( quite enjoyable,Ronnie Van Zant's brother was the singer ) Deep Purple with Gillan but without Blackmore were on the same bill and were not very good, Franz Ferdinand,Scissors Sisters,Waterboys,Rodrigo and Gabriela,U2 about fifty times and finally, would you believe The Ramones. Top five, Stones at the Point , had great seats. Waterboys one New Years Eve in the Top Hat in Dun Laoghaire,David Byrne either at the Ambassador or the Olympia, U2 Christmas '83 in The SFX and U2 RDS Feb,'81 and The Ramones at the now defunct TV Club in Harcourt St. in about '81 or '82.....................One,Two,Three,Four. Loved The Ramones, wish I'd seen AC/DC though. Rolo.

The horslips was way back when! yep I'd say you’re correct on the date. My friend’s sister took us, we were nippers. You mentioned you seen Human League - always thought they were a good band and actually came across an old tape of them this morning. The Ramones were great also. You named a bunch of bands there that have completely put back in time. I've seen a slue of bands over the years also but the mind is so foggy. I have kept the ticket stubs, they are somewhere in my Irish collection in the attic. Some day I will get them and update this. |
