Hi folks,
I am sure this has been covered before but are there are any artists/bands you don't like but everyone else seems to? Conversely, any artists/bands you like but everyone else seems not to like? Cheers, Mel.

Radiohead go into my "not like" pile although people rave about them. I am sure I will think of more.

I never liked Jethro Tull-until I saw them live and to this day have to say it was the best show I ever attended- (back in '76 - Songs From the Wood days)
With the exception of about two songs I still find them hard to listen to on records. I can think of about a million bands that I hate for no good reason.

On the other hand - here's a band I really liked back in the 90's that was a head scratcher to my workmates.

Other than some of their early material and the odd track I can't take to Queen at all.
And I hate that Ram Jam song "Black Betty". I hate rap "music". |

that's a tough one Mel,there's a lot of acts I didn't get into,as I had such a large collection, that I couldn't fit anymore in,unless I heard something that blew me away...there is also a lot of acts who have a couple of songs I like, but overall,I could take or leave them...

I asked Cecil to play this once during a slow set and he had a bouncer take me outside, beat me and confiscate my membership card.

I love that song Pogue.
In the charts in 1967. The chorus is brilliant. Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, get off your back Come into town, don't let them down, oh no, no Grocer jack, grocer Jack, get off your back Come into town, don't let them down, oh no, no |

Leonard Cohen was an artist I never really got into.
Some of his earlier songs that were played in the Grove were good. And Tom Waits was another artist I didn't get at all. Am not saying these were poor artists. They are both critically acclaimed but just didn't tick my boxes. |

Pat - Even though I am/was a big Tom Waits fan I can relate...and also liked early Leonard back in the day.
I wasted a lot of time listening to them dudes, Dylan included..there are probably four or five tunes between them I can listen to today. OLDIE What did the Tom Waits fan say when his drugs wore off? Ans: This music really sucks.

The Clash were another band I couldn't get into.
Have a compilation CD of theirs but wouldn't be rocked by all the trax. Some good stuff alright but not enough to wow me. The Sex Pistols yes.... "Never Mind The Bollocks" was an incredible album. |
